73/100⠀ ⠀ My older sister explained to kid me that there were astronauts in space who held on to ropes to keep gravity in place. It didn’t make any sense, but neither did long division or the Holy Trinity, and my job as a kid was to believe what adults told me. As far as I knew, if an astronaut had an itchy nose, the balance of our world was in jeopardy. Adult me thinks there are little astronauts in my head, holding on to all of the important strings of numbers floating around in there. Thanks to smart phones, I have less than ten telephone numbers memorized (parents and uncles land lines, our old land line, hubby’s cell phone, and my first crush). But there’s social security numbers, birthdays, passwords, security codes, pin codes, access codes, passport number, cooking times and temperatures, metric conversions, butter math, how many teaspoons in a tablespoon, ounces in gallon, calories in a snickers martini; there’s the age of my nieces and friends, important dates both personal and historical, addresses, zip codes, driving directions, knitting instructions, key codes, shoe sizes, bra sizes, the date of my last period, salad dressing ratios, radio and tv stations, PEMDAS, my 8 times tables, flight numbers, the expiry date of the milk, credit card numbers, the year I bought my house, the year I’ll pay off my mortgage, and my age. ⠀ Please keep holding the ropes little brain astronauts (neuronauts?), I have a feeling when one goes, they all go. ⠀ ⠀ #numbers #astronaut #neuronaut #passwords #the100dayproject #the100dayproject2018 #the100dayprojectOP #objectpermanence #significantobjects #stuff #tradingcard #tradingcards #affinitydesigner #virtualcabinetofcuriosities #art #autobiography #illustration
