Neutral mask more or less finished! Part 3 - rather less neutral haha! Loads of organic details added, and a cast resin carved 'stone' (it glows in the dark!) which I'm liking more after antiquing. Actually, I'm liking the whole thing more after antiquing. Initially the gold was a bit bright and somehow lost some of the drama that the naked Worbla had, but the antiquing paste has really brought back the details and given it the feel of a relic, given it some weight so to speak. I formed the mask in Worbla (Worbla black art), a very cool thermoplastic product, using a neutral mask form I made a while back. I then went over it with little pieces of Worbla, using off-cuts and roughly cut strips, which I heated (possibly a little too hot) and applied to the base form, tearing them away to create the interesting rough, flaked effect. As for what it's for, some of you may have seen my live video where I was making, with limited success, a sort of Gothic veil. I was thinking it might be better and more dramatic with a gold mask underneath, and so this is the rough base of said gold mask. However the mask came out so well, even if I do say so myself, I may have to think again about the veil haha! #mask #masks #maskmaking #neutralmask #neutralmaskmaking #worblanz #worbla #worblasblackart #worblablackart #creepymask (at Gulf Harbour) https://www.instagram.com/p/BofONLcB1ct/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=8yqkjigjvwqo
