SBtBB: Knowing How Hot You Are - Neutral Self-Talk
Hello all my bad bitches (or maybe just my future self),
I am making a list of steps to become a bad bitch and the first one is improving my self-esteem. I worked really hard to do this in December, so this will be somewhat easy to write. For a really long time I absolutely hated what I saw in the mirror. I’d cry myself to sleep because I wasn’t the skinny girl at school or I didn’t have those lips or I didn’t have the luscious hair she had. Changing this mindset is crucial to becoming a bad bitch. But how? Neutral self-talk.
What is Neutral Self-Talk exactly? It’s talking about yourself and your features without being negative or positive about it. When you have been talking negatively about yourself for years (18 years for myself), positive self-talk feels impossible and this is the stepping stone between this and negative self-talk.
EXAMPLE:
1. I hate my stomach
- My stomach allows me to intake nutrition, so I can have energy to go throughout my day
2. My thighs are too big/small, I hate them
- My legs allow me to stand in line at my favorite ride at a theme park or run into the arms of someone I love.
These examples might sounded kind of cheesy and maybe they are, but this is the first step I took to love my body. Instead of telling myself how much I hate a certain part of my body (although I still continue to do this on occasion), I remind myself that every part of my body as a specific function to keep me alive, which is really neat actually. If you don’t know why a part of your body is beneficial, then it can be a cool anatomy lesson.
Neutral Self-Talk is not easy, but it has helped me start to love the body I was born in and will be in until the day I leave this earth. Doing this everyday, no matter how bad the day, is certain to help boost your self-esteem even just the smallest amount. Goodnight my bad bitches xoxo <3
