Jameson is squatting down so they're closer in height. Looking up at Misha with such soft eyes. He's too good to actually be the asshole, but sometimes he's gonna feel that way. "Well, lil bit, see, what happened was," his voice is soft, slow to start, trying to be as accurate and honest about it as he can be, as unbias as possible.
"I was gonna take off early today, let Laverne close for me down at the shop. Then we got a call come in about quart after 3, it was Laverne's husband an he was wiggin out. So Laverne said she got to go, but I didn't like the way he was talking to her none. I know it ain't my business what folk do, Laverne grown and I ain't tryna be captain save a hoe." This is a lie, Jameson stays on his save a hoe bullshit and they both know it.
"But I can't have people disrupting my business." A convenient excuse. "So I had her stay there and told her husband to pull up." He makes a face, clearly knowing this was the moment everything went south. He pressed his lips together as he shakes his head.
"My dude pulled up with two friends, talking about how I don't tell him what to do, gettin in Laverne face. So, I let my hand do the talking." He playfully swats the air in front of him before remembering he's supposed to look remorseful. "I slap ol dude so hard the taste came out his mouth. Gonna spend the next week feeling like eating at Arby's. He did a full spin. Next thing I know the cops pullin up and I just spent three hours at the station explainign that they came in to my place of business threatening me and my staff."
He sighed and runs his hand over his hair. "So now I'm the asshole who got Laverne man locked up, and stood you up, I guess."
Saying that Misha looks unimpressed when Jameson squats down would be giving her expression a disservice - if looks could kill he would be the most recent in a long line of people who'd been done in by such a pouty glare. It's clear, at least by her expression, that she does think he's an asshole - at least before he's start his explanation.
After the explanation starts, she's got to set her jaw to even try and stay mad at him for standing her up without any word. Has to purse her lips to maintain any vitriol in the look she was giving him.
Ugh. Damn him for being so sweet. And Caring about people.
As if that wasn't the reason that she'd fallen for him in the first place.
The venom in her look slips away the further into his story he gets, and she's got to fight back a smile - something she makes no effort to hide - as he swats at the air in front of him. She's not even feeling particularly frosty anymore. How was she supposed to stay mad at him when he was just... Being himself? Standing up for what was right when other people might have been content to watch?
He'd always been the better of the two of them, and while she can't say for certain that she would have done the same in his position - her method might have involved more than an open palm to the face - she loved him for it.
She pauses, a dramatic one, and after the bite she packs into the one word, she doesn't doubt it will be a relief to see her start smiling. A wry forgiveness in the expression as her eyes soften properly.
"It sounds like I have better taste than Laverne, because my man isn't half the asshole her husband is."
