For You,
I finished work for the week at 8am on a friday. That was the pinnacle of working on a night shift. Something about having done more work than over 90% of the country before 8am really makes you see the light. This past weeks weather was nothing short of a torture chamber. 20 degrees in a sealed suit dealing with chemicals made to attract, seduce and kill their target is nothing to joke about. DEET, Sulphur, and good old DDT being absorbed in the body is definitely worth the extra $1.75 an hour. Once that suit came off today, and i changed out of my soaking wet clothes (the kind that sticks to your body like you were pushed into a swimming pool) i knew this weekend would be something to live fore. the bills don't account for pesticide pay so i decided to treat myself to drinks tonight for my friend Cody’s birthday. I was going to get loaded and forget about the next week where i would have to sort and bulk pesticides, which is 2 weeks away. I was one of the last people to clock out today. I respectfully declined the offer for Wimpys (a diner that served breakfast, lunch and dinner at anytime of the day) from my lead hand Arron. lead hand is a word thats in front of your name at my place of employment if you love telling your “superior” about everything thats happening within the workplace. Heaven forbid if you have a great work ethic and do what people say, that wont get you anywhere. But all these thoughts went out the window when i punched in 1446 into the clock located in the lunchroom. Hand scanning technology powered by a battery that can keep going through a power outage. Not even a power outage could get you can extra minute. After i heard the beep and received a score of 22 (which i still don't understand what it’s for), i plugged in my headphones and headed for the front gate to start my weekend. Personally, this was always the worst time of the day. Mostly because memories haunt every inch of the street towards of the bus stop. people always ask “do you have your liscense?” and i do. I have G1 which allows me to drive with a person whose driven for several years beside you in the passenger. I don't have a car or the drive, no pun intended, to complete my drivers test. the street i walk down twice a day, 5 days a week is paved with a girl who can never be erased from my mind. If she was to be removed from it, id meet her in a random place and fall in love with her all over again. She has an ass like an onion. It makes me want to cry.(for the guys) she had everything; the smile, the laugh and the pure beauty that would make a guy wake up and work 8 hours to give her everything he could possibly afford (for the girls). I truly loved her, and it ended about 6 months ago. give or take 3 weeks. The end of the relationship i had with her was anything but pretty. Tears from both sides, empty threats and a handful of empty allegations lead to the quick downward spiral. I want to say it was quick and painless but it was anything but. By the time I'm able to see the bus stop, i see my only means of transit home waiting at the red light. I begin running and see it turn into the next lane. The bus driver, who as awesome by the way, told me to go up the street a dozen metres so he could safely pull up to the the curb and let me in. I quickly found a seat and got comfortable. After i moved a few months ago, i now ride the “sketchiest” bus route to the end of line. Hamilton Go Station platform 18. That station could take you anywhere. Ive used that station to get me 4000 kilometres west, or just 60 KM to Toronto to the yearly Argo game with my uncle. From the station, its about a 10 minute walk uphill to the place ill call home for the next year. the 3rd tallest building in Hamilton, Ontario. Hamilton is know for its steel companies, polluted water and constant repulsive smell coming from the factories within the boundaries of the city walls. Im not knocking the city, I'm just hating on the stupid people thinking waste can be dumped into the lake and just “float away”. i still, to this day, don't understand why Randle Reef hasn't been remediated yet. The walk to my apartment is quick and painless.
