Hero drifted awake.
They've been doing a lot of drifting lately. When they were awake they'd be drifting when they were asleep they'd be drifting. There was a lot of drifting.
But this time it was different.
Hero felt a weight against them. A soft weight.
A familiar weight.
They cracked open an eye. Everything was different. The room was different. The sheets were different.
Everything was different except for one thing.
Villain was the same. They didn't look thinner. They smiled up at them from where they were snuggling up.
“Hey sugar~”
Hero blushed.
“H-hey. Where are we? How did we… how did we get here?”
“Uhmmm? We got here after your mission? This is my room?” Villain said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “I know I'm good but I didn't know I was so good to give you memory loss.” They giggled.
Hero softened.
They were safe. Villain wasn't a prisoner. Hero wasn't being retrained. Hero was having a bad dream. There's no superhero. No Supervillain.
Villain cupped their cheek and they instantly nuzzled breathing in deeply.
“Why are you acting like a woman from the crusades who just met with her husband that was supposed to have died in war?”
“Bad dream.”
“Aw baby… I'm so sorry. Want to talk about it?”
Hero shook their head and pulled villain closer nuzzling in to their neck.
They sobbed.
“Shhh… there there.”
“I'm sorry…”
“You should be.”
“I am.”
“You don't know what you put me through.”
Hero sniffled. “‘m sorry.”
“That's all you know to say after all that huh? That you're sorry? That's not enough for everything you put me through. I was starved for you. Which you fucking participated in. You tortured me, your people drugged me while you stood there and handed them the drugs. And all you can manage is ‘sorry’?” Villain scoffed.
“I blame you. For everything.”
Hero nodded nuzzling a little deeper.
“You're fucking pathetic.”
“I am. I'm a pathetic rat.”
“At least you know what you are. Stop fucking clinging to me you damn parasite.” Villain spat and yanked hero's head back by their hair. Hero whimpered.
“Please..”
“Aww please what? Please let you cling on to me and pretend you're not everything wrong with my life?”
Hero sniffled and looked down at their lap.
The door opened and superhero sauntered.
“You look more pathetic than usual.”
Villain was gone.
They were back in the room.
“Anyway it doesn't matter. You're always pathetic anyway.” Superhero sighed.
“You know how to use an injection. We've trained you how to do that.” It was a statement more than a question.
Hero nodded.
Superhero reached in to their pocket and grabbed an injection before tossing it on to hero's lap.
“Use this.”
Hero takes it in to their hands.
“What… what is it?” they sniffled.
“I wouldn't normally tell you what drugs I'm using would I? You should know not to question me.”
Hero takes the syringe and takes the cap off. The needle is thick. Hero tries to hold it from their non dominant hand but it slips.
“I… I can't.”
“You can't what? Hold the syringe?”
“Yes…”
Superhero rolls their eyes. “I can't believe you were in my team when you're this useless. Why can't you hold the syringe? Are you letting a few broken fingers get in the way of following orders? Oh right. I forgot you're too stupid to follow simple orders.”
Hero's fingers shook as they tried to use their dominant hand to retry. But three of them were broken.
“Fucking give me that. Useless rat.” Superhero grabbed the syringe. “Arm.” Hero held it out. “I have to do fucking everything for you. Can't even punish yourself like a decent piece of shit.”
Superhero pulled the syringe out. Hero wondered what kind of punishment their mind will conjure up this time.
Whatever it was, they will deserve it.

Other Hero slinked down from the side of a building they didn't think they'd be slinking down today.
They weren't supposed to meet again.
The back alley stunk of cheap liquor, piss and vomit.
They went to the edge of the alleyway and squeezed through a gap meeting face to face with the familiar descent of the staircase.
They went down the stairs, marred by forgotten graffiti, abandoned newspapers, cigarette buds and broken glass. A couple was making out in a corner and other hero was glad that they were not wearing their normal colourful gettup.
They reached the end went through the door. The place was buzzing with drums and base. The crowd was swarmed and moving like a wave. Other Hero had to swim through to get to the other side. When they did reach the back after shoving past people smelling of cheap perfume, drinks, smoke, sweat, and humidity, they shoved open a door.
The base was quieter here.
“I think you missed a turn bud.” the big burly man at the door rumbled.
“Very funny Travis. Are they in there?”
“You're not supposed to be here.”
“Yeah well mind your damn business. Password is ‘peacock's nest.’”
Travis worked his jaw. “If I hear a peep outta place, I'm comin in and bashin yer head in.”
He stepped aside and put his finger to the door and it hissed.
Other Hero stepped inside the room and the group in there immediately pointed their weapons, guns and canons whirring to life. Other Hero raised their hands.
“I'm here for Vigilante"
For all but a second the room was silent.
“Look what the cat dragged in. A hero, in my den? You're not supposed to be here.”
Other Hero sighed at the sound of that smooth voice. “I need to call in a favour.”
Vigilante slid out of the shadows where they were looking on from. The smirk on their face was wide enough to split their face.
“What kind of favour are we asking for” The lilt in their voice was the one that they knew made other Hero want to claw their ears out.
“Can you at least tell them to lower their weapons?” Other Hero deadpanned, seeing the guns and lasers still aimed at them.
“Hmm no.” Vigilante smiled and other hero sighed.
“You haven't changed one bit you know?” Other Hero narrowed their eyes.
“And? Is that information supposed to make me sad or something?”
Other Hero rolled their eyes. “We're getting off topic.” Other Hero shifted on their feet and a gun was raised.
“What's your favour?” Vigilante asked with a smirk.
“It’s about Hero.” Vigilante's smirk fell.
“Everyone out.”

Completely forgot about The Rat Post and I thought “wow that battery sure did a number on the post below” as I scrolled down
I originally posted my bearded dragon, Amara, expecting her to be liked by a few, but not many. I have posted my frogs, my sisters cat, her snake, my dogs, and more. Surprisingly, she got quite popular? Why? I do not know. But she is a small beauty. She is now 1 year and 6 months old and is still as happy as ever.
Recently, though, we adopted a handsome little man. His name is Legolas, and he is 2-3 months old. He is the most adventurous, curious, and friendly bearded dragon I have ever met, and will happily circle your shoulders to say hello!
