Owen’s face felt very hot, and he gulped down the rest of his wine to buy himself time. Esther was looking at him like she could see right through him, which he supposed was better than disdain for implying that he’d moved on from her daughter at Gwyn’s shiva, but what the hell was he supposed to say now? Yeah, I’ve actually been sleeping with my boss for the last few weeks and last night I threw myself at him and cried in his arms about your daughter. You still have season tickets for the Yankees?
