That awkward moment when you are in a group chat with the swim team, and everyone else is complaining about the new coach, and your just sitting there ignoring the texts because you actually like him…
Time Trial
Held the first voluntary time trial for the CC team this evening. Just a timed mile as fast as they could go. Really served two purposes: to shake the rust off and give them a taste of pushing hard again, and to set a baseline for our upcoming speed work. None of them were happy with their time (I’m probably the only one who was), but we spent some time talking about how this is only early July, we’ve done no speed work at all, and they can’t compare this to where they were at the end of last CC season (or even track season).
Wednesdays are track days from here on out, and I think they’ll be very surprised at how much progress they’ll make between now and the first meet in about six weeks. Lots of summer left, but I can feel CC season starting to creep up. Can’t wait...
What I’m up against
Apparently, not only are the high school and middle school cross country records not posted anywhere in the respective schools, but they are also apparently not readily available for the new athletic director to locate. How does that even happen?!?
