thoughts about aforementioned extended team au
so I think we could go 2 routes. either the team was like this from the get-go, or what I think is better: in 2017, 4-5ish months into the team, the others are invited to join. in a world where marcus was redeemed in s4, like turning on giselle to save the rats or smth (so not my actual world). I think douglas or davenport would see the threat of the shapeshifters and pull at least adam into the team. then I feel like they'd get leo and his team to join, probably bringing marcus along too.
now the biggest problem with this, marcus being unredeemed in my story aside, is the major blow to leo's character. i've built leo up to be an insecure but good leader, who just wants a little respect from his family. the issue being if he joins the team, he goes back on the leader thing because chase and skylar are better options all around with much higher biq and exeperience. he and taylor would be squad leaders, like if the team breaks into smaller groups for a mission, but still i feel that it could deal a blow to his character.
ignoring allat: fun stuff
first of all, room arrangements: chase, kaz, and oliver stay in theirs, while bree and skylar keep theirs. taylor and logan share a room and the other davenports share a room (marcus wouldn't use the davenport name in this au though)
so, with relationships, the original team is pretty much the same. if we went with the timeline i mentioned, this is after the couples get together and oliver gets his head outta his ass (lol). the only thing that potentially changes with this is oliver is probably not as close to chase and bree as he is in the main timeline since they're in a bigger group, but overall the 5 of them are largely the same.
leo and kaz are once again fast friends, and i think with oliver they would form a trio because of their similar interests and personalities that would mesh well
adam and skylar would also be pretty immediate friends. similar relationship to what they have in the main tl, just faster and closer. gym buddies who just want to protect the people they love.
bree and taylor are already best friends, so they'd just get closer by living together. they would definitely be a trio with skylar too, all of them are girl's girls and would love hanging out together or taylor would go in their room for a girls-only slumber party (they have matching earrings in the piece above :) )
i also think logan (besides being close to taylor and leo already) would be a floater. i also think chase would be too. they already get along with most of the others and in chase's case have pre-established relationships with everyone, so they'd just be between groups.
skylar and chase would still be the parents of the group, they'd just have more chaotic-ass people to look after lol
chase and bree have significantly less angst too because their brothers are there. chase (like i've said in the main tl) is good friends with taylor and views logan like a little brother (because he reminds him of younger adam) like he does with leo and oliver
leo and logan are pining super hard and are in denial. the two established couples absolutely are trying to fix them up (along with taylor)
(also bree is thrilled that adam is there so she isn't the oldest anymore, kaz and oliver thoroughly called her unc before his arrival and now he's the one being insulted by all of the 17 year olds)
now onto the more complicated relationships:
adam still had issues with kaz because of sebastian, and kaz had issues with adam because of his percieved roughness with chase. however that get resolved way faster without months and months of tension (lol)
now marcus. oh marcus.
marcus does NOT take the davenport name. does not speak a word to douglas. at first will only speak to tasha, daniel, and the rats. sometimes leo too, but only bickering
bree and leo hate him. bree for the betrayal and leo because he never liked marcus a single second and suspects him of betraying them constantly. chase is in between, wary but slightly, a smidge, wanting to give marcus a second chance. adam, while sore about the past, is different, actively wanting to include marcus and trying to integrate him into the family and team. he tries to bridge the gap between his siblings and marcus, to varying degrees of success.
skylar, before being a villain, would've just brushed marcus off as unchangeable and evil, but now she has a lot of empathy, yet stays wary regardless. kaz does not like marcus. he tries to be subtle about it for chase, but he heard all the stories from bree and leo and lwk wants to throw marcus down the trash chute, redeemed or not. taylor and logan are like adam. they were redeemed and fundamentally believe in second chances. they try to welcome marcus and include him in everything, even though it pisses leo off
oliver and marcus have an interesting friendship. he's the only one marcus would consider himself close to. they bonded over their experiences, their parents, feeling like an outlier, etc. they're platonic here still, but the friendship is greatly helpful and healing for them both :)
