TEN

Picture it, it's 2003, my sister hands me the Every Night's Another Story EP and says' There is a song about you on this record. I pop the CD in and out comes a delicious distorted melody, with a sweet voice, and I was hooked. Of course my sister mis-heard the lyrics. She thought they were: "Breathe in deep. Let it out slow. Danielle's hair is falling out again" when in fact they really are: "Breathe in deep. Let it out slow. Did you hear, it's all my fault again." Ah well. She had good intentions I guess. The band I am referring to is no other than, the Early November. and from moment on I became a huge fan. I saw them about 6 times in the past 9 years and every time they have been a crowd favorite. But it's probably because they too are from NJ and we New Jersey-eans tend to have an obsession with our hometown heroes. (Look at Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi!) So here I am, a happy little TEN fan, following an amazingly talented band when in 2008 at Bamboozle Fest (A NJ STAPLE!) The Early November announced they were breaking up. I think if the Hunger Games was out we would have done the 3 finger salute - seriously! I don't think there was a dry eye in the crowd. We all stood there sobbing and singing to the top of our lungs, moshing for all we were worth. The Early November represented what the NJ Scene was/is. A powerful mix of poignant lyrics, with cathartic rhythms and romantic melodies all smooshed into one. It was EMO - NJ Style! And I am not ashamed to say I was one of their biggest champions. This week The Early November announced: 1. They have reunited, 2. they are writing a new album 3. An early summer tour. Needless to say I am EXTREMELY HAPPY!!! Now I just need to find a friend to accompany me to the show May 23rd at Irving Plaza..... Any takers?
