Some more Dark Souls headcanons:

- Shulva was formed by fleed survivors of New Londo and maybe some runaways from Oolacile mingled in. Sunken King was self-made from among those New Londo commoners

- Their takeaway about messing with the Dark is "just don't unleash the Abyss lol" so they moderately use Hexes despite wounds of the past. Besides, Dark comes naturally for those who live underground, it is hard to avoid so they might as well tame it and they did

- Family branch of Oceiros and Gundyr (collaterally related to him) descends from one of the Four Kings. One of them used to be married to a scion from Anor Londo and left children who layed low after New Londo accident, this family is deeply ashamed of their past further ensuring their generational fixation on Firelinking

- Londor sisters, on the other hand, descend from another one of the Four Kings, though that one had bastards instead. No claim or memory of noble blood remained as a result, though sinister unconscious connection persisted within family and probably ensured why Kaathe got interest in them

- Basically, the mysterious "nearly extinct" human gene of purple hair and/or eyes that was mentioned in DS1 is linked to New Londo! Friede has purple eyes, Priestess in Shulva have purple (almost pink lol). Kings themselves had split colors of hair and eyes between purple, brown and grey (not age-grey lol), so did like 90% of New Londo citizens!

Dark Souls. New Londo residents

Lord Gwyn recognized the foresight of these four great leaders of New Londo, and granted them their ranks and the fragments of a great soul.

When the Four Kings were seduced by evil, their knights became Darkwraiths, servants of the Dark. […] Their armor transformed, and remains a symbol of the Dark servants and their diabolical art of Lifedrain. […] Some say the skeletal mask of an ancient Darkwraith is partially fused with the flesh of its face.

The Sealers flooded New Londo to banish the Darkwraiths and the Four Kings. The agonizing decision was made with the realization that countless lives, and the robust culture of the city, would be lost. The victims now roam the ruins as ghosts.

The ruins of New Londo were blocked off, for the cursed ghosts posed danger to life and spirit, and the legends speak of a terrible Dark which was sealed away.

I don’t want an actual answer yet because spoilers, but why was it a reasonable solution to sacrifice all of New Londo just to seal away the Four Kings and the Darkwraiths? How come some random human with a regular-ass sword can go in there and kill em but the gods couldn’t (or wouldn’t)? Are they just easier to kill now after so long? I have questions and so far very few answers so I hope the game gives me some.
