Jack’s always been a cautious man, preferring to part with information only when absolutely necessary. Telling unfamiliar people that he can’t remember anything beyond a battlefield in France doesn’t strike him as necessary, not when he’s already begun to piece together the situation for himself. The war is over, and he’s returned to his life as a police officer. Apparently whatever case he’s working is not going particularly well.
For the first time ever, I have listened to a podfic – a fic made into an audio – and it was super lovely!
Lenore’s “New Mutiny” is a great fic to begin with, featuring a Jack who looses all memory of his post-war life in an accident, and has to adjust to a Phryne he doesn’t even remember. Here are many great details about Jack’s experiences of war and marriage, and how he has changed since the war started. In this podfic it is well recorded, and the reading made it even clearer to me how well-written this story is, and brought out the details even more.
Perfect for a time where the eyes are busy but the ears are free. I recommend it!
