FacePalm RA problems
That awkward moment when you try having in hall hours while you are burning candles and walking around drinking a glass of wine...... #facepalm Gotta try again tomorrow lol. My level of exhaustion is real
When a new RA asks how you handled difficult situations
So my first week of being an RA has come to a close. School hasn't started yet, and these residents are partying like it's 1999. I have been invited to two separate parties on MY floor, by my residents. While I love my residents very much.... how DUMB can you be to invite your RA to a party on her floor, when you yourself are underaged???
My friend has had two marijuana incidents in two days.... get this: from the SAME room. Now that's pretty dumb. Needless to say, they are now being watched and will be caught soon.
Sleep is scarce. I do it when I can. Like today from 4:30-8:30pm. Of course..... I didn't mean to sleep that long. And my laundry was sitting in the washer for a good two or three hours. Good thing the residents haven't gotten bold enough to start taking people's laundry out of the washing machines yet.
Thursday was Freshmen Move In Day. We were on duty for our floor the whole day and night. At that point, I hadn't slept in 48 hours. So I was pretty beat. Then Friday we had check in for the rest of the residents. My friend Kira, another RA, and I stayed up until 3am. Then of course, I had check in the next morning at 8am-10am. Then Ambassador Retreat from 10am-2pm. Then I got to go to lunch...with nonRA friends.... at a real restaurant. It was amazing. Then tomorrow I have check in from 8am-10am then Recruitment Retreat for Alpha Xi Delta from 11am-3pm. Then school starts Monday. My goodness.
Sometimes I wish life would slow down, but then I think...nah. I 'd rather be hopelessly busy than bored for a second. However, sometimes I wonder if I am living my life the way I should. If I died tomorrow, would I be satisfied with the life I lived? I don't have the answer to that question. And is that an answer in itself?
After being awoken from the first sleep I've gotten in two days for a check in I now find myself not being able to fall asleep.... RA problems
Check In Week
You know its the week of check in when:
I legitimately can't remember if I took a shower today so I take one just in case.
I walk around singing the Mail Time song from Blues Clues.
I am up at 2am cutting and pasting, and then taping things to other people's doors and walls (with the proper tape of course).
Up sending delirious snapchats with fellow RAs (have fun waking up to 27 nonsensical snapchats, world).
I do love my job, but man does it not make sense sometimes. Gotta get all my signs done tomorrow. Anyone have any original ideas for signs that are Monsters University/ Monsters Inc themed?
More Excitement from a New RA
I JUST MET MY FIRST RESIDENT!!!! She was going to check out her room and she came to meet her RA. She is a Freshmen and she is totally adorable.
Now I have a full range. I have a 17/18 year old resident to a 92 year old resident. I got em all lol. I can't wait until move in day in two days. Crunch time y'all!!!!
When new RAs try to give me advice on how to do things:
