Tan glances down at Lavender, confused but not surprised. Why had crewmates been randomly popping up lately
“Hello there. Mind telling me what you’re doing here? I don’t want people sneaking into my lab”
I beam happily as the doctor pets my head, I always like it when they do that.
"Heheh... yes doctor!"
I said enthusiastically, my mind and attention fully diverted to the duty the doctor has given me, and I long to follow it to the best of my ability.
They watched as their latest experiment runs off, sighing once they were out of view
They yawn, stretch and checks one of the tracking terminals

I look towards where the pillow pile is placed, as I crawl towards it and lay on its soft, rather comfy surface, curling myself up like some kind of dog or cat snuggled in a small basket, my gaze now towards the doctor who is also just staring back at me.
Tan simply chuckled, gave the imposter one more small pat on the head
“You are going to be perfect…”
“I have no doubts that you’ll make me proud”
And with that, they left the lab

"Wait... what...?"
That... doesn't sound right. Report to Mira...? Didn't I already abandoned Mira a long ago after becoming... wait, that doesn't sound right either... I always worked for Mira right? It's always important to follow their orders and obey what is needed to be done...?
Y-Yeah... that does sound right isn't it... what needs to be done, I need to move right away.
"Right of course... right away sir!"
I immediately walk out of the lab, the daze slowly settling in, and somehow I already know where to go. I need to report to Mira and wait for further instructions.
Tan watched as they wandered off, staring at their handywork. They chuckled at how easily that work
Usually it takes weeks
Mira will be delighted to have another helping hand

I watch doctor pin the tag on my coat while silently beaming with joy, it's really not much and it's pretty much just a company item, but just the notion of doctor Tan giving it to me and helping me putting it on makes me feel happy.
"Thanks doctor... and for taking care of me too. I um, I hope I do good back at Mira as well, I wanna do a good job for them like I did good here too..."
I said, almost in a dreamy manner at some point, as if working for Mira sounds like the best thing that would ever happen to me.
“That’s what I like to hear..”
Tan pats the imposter on the head and snickers under their breathe
“Now, it’s best you rest up. You’re going to have a lot of sleepless nights ahead of it”
“Most crewmates don’t take to kindly to aliens after all”
"Ah, okay... thank you doctor... did I uh, did I do good...?"
I said, scratching the back of my head again as watch them put away the supplies.
"Am I a good subject doctor...?"
The researcher looks at the imposter, smirks a little and walks back with the folded note to give to them
“You have been a wonderful test subject. I know you’ll make Mira proud”
“And before I forget-”
They pulled out the metal tag, which looks more like a pin or coin upon inspection. They grab the imposter’s cloak and pin the tag to it
“That lets Mira know that you had a visit with me. Don’t lose it”
"I-I know...! I'm sorry... I didn't mean to make you angry at me..."
I responded, sensing the doctor's displeasure as I watch them open the cap of the sedative. I simply comply and sniff the bottle at hand.
sniff... sniff...
"W-Woah..."
The smell was actually a bit more pleasant this time as the fear and anxiety from smelling the salt earlier washed away in an instant, fogging my brain for a little bit before disappearing shortly.
"That... that was nice..."
“-aaand that’s enough for you”
Tan quickly closed the cap and pulled the bottle away
“So you seem to be hypersensitive to salt and mildly sensitive to the sedative. So, I’m going to suggest you stay away from the medbay or kitchen once you board the ship”
They research hummed a bit as they put the supplies away and wrote down a quick note
