Finally had my proper birthday dinner with my buddy, @mind786 — he took me to #outback , which for some strange reason I actually have never been to. Great prime rib; albeit a tad too salty due to their seasoning. The coconut shrimp was delicious. Took longer to get to the restaurant using a walker, but I will not give in to the pain. The journey to a new quality of life started on the 1st of November. The amazing team of surgeons and support specialists from the Veterans Administration at the DC Medical Center performed a Total Knee Replacement on my right knee. The have been amazing and supportive, even when I was going crazy during the first 24-hours after the surgery. I was paranoid and delirious from the pain and the drugs. I did not fully appreciate and trust the team. I have been wrong many times in my life, and I was wrong again not to trust them. Last Friday I was finally able to walk with the help of my wonderful physical therapist. Today, I was able to perform several sets of upper and lower body strength training. Tomorrow is my birthday. This is the best birthday gift I could ever ask for. I know I needed to do this as my life was going downhill since I could not move that much due to the extreme pain in my knees and back.
