DSED October 2020, Day 30: Otto!

Oooh, Otto for that headcanon ask thing, please! ♡

Okay, I’ve definitely done this for Otto before but I cannot find the post at all so it’s time for a second round!

A. Otto’s partner at his iconography shop is a werewolf, and he gets on very well with her despite all the traditional ‘vampires vs werewolves’ stuff. @trumpetsandbookmarks is actually responsible for this headcanon, I just really liked it.

B. If you opened Otto’s wardrobe, you would see rows of identical, tidy clothes, so that he can always wear his “hello I am a friendly vampire” outfit to work. Vampires can resist the compulsion to drink blood, but they’re always going to be a bit weird about tidiness.

You’ll never get to open that wardrobe though, because if you try he’ll come flying out of nowhere in full screeching monster mode. He won’t hurt you, it’s just that the intense Ankh-Morpork awkwardness has rubbed off on him and he’s hugely embarrassed about people maybe seeing his underpants drawer.

C. Otto has probably killed people. He’s resigned to that fact. What really bothers him, though, is that he can’t remember who they were- if he remembered their names or faces he could try to do something to make up for what he’d done. But he can’t.

D. The newsnerds are all married to each other, because that’s legal in Ankh-Morpork, damn it, and I will not believe anything else.

dsed 126 / inktober day 27: thunder

There was a flash of lightning and a roll of thunder. Otto punched the air triumphantly.

'Yes!' he shouted, as the printers ran madly towards the doors. 'Ven you really, really need it, zere it is! Let's try vunce more... Castle!' The thunder rolled again. The vampire jumped up and down excitedly, vest tails flying. 'Vow! Now ve are cooking! Vunce more mit feelink! Vot a big... castle...' The thunder was even louder this time.

Otto for the headcanons meme please?

My boy!

What they smell like: Since the imps don't use actual chemicals, maybe a little hint of brush oils and paint thinner? Mainly he probably tries to smell clean though. Like an unobtrusive cleanliness.

How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): Rarely. But also like when persuaded to come to bed I feel like he's probably a cuddler. Like he's all limbs anyway. He does occasionally take a nap upside down, because vampires

What music they enjoy: He has grown to like the sort of sing song thing at the ribboner meetings, but he also enjoys anything you can dance to. He is very big on twirling William and Sacharissa around a floor, I think.

How much time they spend getting ready every morning: He spends more time checking on the imps and lizards, but he does like his hair just so.

Their favorite thing to collect: Candid iconographs of Sacharissa and William. Well of anyone really but those are his most favorite. He has some really nice unposed moments that are super cherished.

Left or right-handed: I want to say ambi? Like favors right because it's easier but he could at least legibly write with his left if he had to

Religion (if any): Probably not big on it, but appreciates/is accepting that Sacharissa wanted a church wedding because it's proper.

Favorite sport: I think he would really enjoy curling? I have no idea why.

Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling (museums, local food, sightseeing, etc): Iconographs of everything. The scenery, the food, the people, all of it. He is 100% the "come look at my holiday slides" dude.

Favorite kind of weather: overcast (lightning and thunder when needed for emphasis)

A weird/obscure fear they have: I have no basis for this but definitely the ocean. He never goes there but like, you know, there might be sea monsters. The Ankh is like fine but he's not gonna walk too close to it anyway.

The carnival/arcade game they always win without fail: I feel like he would be decent at skeeball.

10, 20, 30, and 40 for sacharissa?

10) Neuroses? Do they recognize them? Uhhh not really? Like I think she has a thing about propriety but she kind of balances that out with like having to do some digging for stories and getting into situations. Like she almost overcomes that in the first book. She literally has her "let her say fuck" moment so yeah. She's probably the best balanced of the 3 nerds, which is pretty classic discworld. Ladies hold shit together and get stuff done.

20) childhood illnesses? Any interesting stories behind them? Boring answer is boring, but I don't think she probably ever had like a traumatic illness or anything. I'm sure she had the classic like chicken pox and whatever though, but I feel like she had a pretty standard childhood.

30) Reaction to sudden intrapersonal disaster (death of a family member, etc) I think she would be really upset like if say her granddad passed away or, gods forbid, something happened permanently to either of the boys. Like she might try to hold it together in public but would just let her emotions go at home/in private. Remnant of the like "this is how we must present ourselves" kind of attitude I was talking about.

40) Would you say they have a superiority complex? Inferiority complex? Neither? I don't think she really has either but she knows when she has command of a room or a situation or whatever. Like Moist said once she is a "woman with opinions" and he meant that as a slight but she is and she knows how to handle that.
