Besom construction underway!
Just started staining my broom stick today! It is probably about 5'6" and it is a solid oak branch that I found on the ground from a tree at my apartments that I have a good connection with. I had my husband carve the bark off and O sanded it down the other day until it was smooth. The stain I am ising is black and so pretty even with just the first coat. My bristles are actually those cinnamon brooms that they sell this time of year. They are a bundle of twigs bound in the shape of a broom and they are saturated in cinnamon scent. I am following a tutorial for a prop broom that I found on youtube that uses those but I am adding my own twist on it. I want to wrap the outer layer of bristles in copper wire and add in some decorations here and there also. I will post pictures when I am done!
