The lightning struck across the darkening skies, the thunderous roar of the rain causing you to tremble just from the chill. You never cared for thunderstorms, they always made you want to shrink away and hide until the sun came back out. But, you couldn’t bring yourself to sleep just yet. Newt was still out there, tracking down creatures and leaving you to watch over his others in the mean time. He said he wouldn’t be gone long, but the hours kept ticking by and all you could do was worry and pace along the small shack of his case.
All the worse case scenarios ran through your mind, eventually making you crazy enough to open the case and peer outside. It was pitch black out, the only thing greeting you was the sounds of thunder and the trees shaking against the wind. “Newt?!” You worriedly yelled, glancing around the forest and hoping he’d be somewhere nearby. Unfortunately, you only received another bout of thunder for an answer. So you closed the case back up, carefully descending from the ladder and wondering if it would be wise to go look for him. “That foolish-“
Before you could curse the wizard further, you heard the latches come undone, signaling the Hufflepuff’s return. You couldn’t turn around quick enough, and when you looked up to the outside Newt’s face came into view, that innocent grin gracing his lips. “Hello, darling.”
“Newton-“
“Sorry…I was right on the heels of a-“
“Just get in here before you catch a cold!” You weren’t really angry with him, but you had a bad habit of finding frustration in your worries. If it wasn’t for that sheepish smile of his, you would’ve tugged him inside by his ear.
Newt suppressed his need to chuckle, not wanting to enrage the storm inside of you. He was better at fairing in harsh weather than he was placating you at times. With a quick hop over the edge, he trekked down the ladder and stood happily in front of you. “Are you angry?”
“No…” You said, crossing your arms and looking the wizard up and down. His clothing was absolutely drenched, and whether he tried to hide it or not you could tell he was shivering under the wet garments. “Come on then, let’s get you out of these.” You tugged him towards you by his coat collar, smiling when he chuckled at your forward behavior.
“I’m fine, darling.” Even though he followed your demands, he still didn’t want you to worry over him. He had been in many storms over his career, this was nothing.
“Shh, just let me, Newt.” You nagged him a bit, but how could you allow your boyfriend to stand there in a puddle of water. Right now he needed a warm fire, and a helpful hand. “Sit by the fire.”
Newt eagerly followed you, taking a seat on the stool next to the small fire you had started at the center of his case. It was instant relief from the prison of his clothes, and the comforting warmth it provided lulled him into a state of bliss. “Thank you.” He simply replied, smiling when you began peeling his heavy coat off. It dropped to the ground in a soft flush of water, revealing the even worse state of his clothes beneath. The vest he wore was stuck to his button up, and you made quick work of it so he could catch more of the heat around him.
“Do you want some tea?”
“No, that’s alright.” He watched you fold the vest up, laying it flat on the ground and turning back to him with a smile. Tea did sound lovely right now, but he was more satisfied with just sitting here with you, enjoying the warmth.
“Mmm.” You hummed in response, fixating on the top buttons of his shirt. With eager hands you began undoing them, one by one, showcasing the perfectly freckled body of his. It was quite a sight to behold, the way the thin material clung to his torso. Accentuating the fine muscles beneath the scarred skin. It was tempting to just touch him, exploring every patch of skin and letting your fingertips linger over certain areas. You wanted him out of these clothes, only now it was beginning to be for more than one reason.
“You’re warm…” Newt mumbled, eyes drifting half closed as he felt your soft palms brush down his chest. You had finished your chore, now pushing his shirt open and fully baring his abdomen to your flustered features.
“I’d imagine anything is warmer than being out there.” You joked, soothing his cold skin with your own body heat. He seemed pleased by it, a soft moan escaping his chilled lips when you caressed over his stomach. You could spend hours just tracing the muscles, anything to hear him sigh contentedly.
“Absolutely.” Newt smiled, placing his hand over yours and giving a soft squeeze. For all his time spent out there, he was finding himself no longer exhausted from the work. There was a sudden burst of energy in him, and even in the comfort of the warm case his mind was no longer on sleeping. With a gentle movement he pulled your hand up, making you cup his cheek as he kissed the inside of your wrist. “I’m sorry to make you worry.”
“I’ve grown used to it.” You were no longer bothered by it, at least not for tonight. Sometimes all it took was a smile and that mischievous look in his eye for you to quell the annoyance inside.
“I very much doubt that.” Newt laughed, pulling you forward until you straddled his lap. He brought his arms to tangle around you, keeping you safely balanced in his hold. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” You dipped down to his lips, kissing him slowly but trying hard to convey the extent of your love for him. He seemed impossibly thrilled by it, fingers curling into your night gown and keeping you as close as humanly possible. It was easy to fall into this joy, just the two of you partaking in each other’s company. You had spent many nights together, but every time felt like the first with him. Newt never got tired of mapping out your body, even after a long day of work he found the time to keep you both pleased in more intimate ways.
“Shall we go to bed?” He asked between heated kisses, hands now snaking up your gown and over your panties. He toyed with the small bow on the edge of it, his arousal growing dangerously high now.
“Yes, gods yes.”

“Oh, how splendid! What a terrific surprise! Teenie! Oh Tina, come look!”, Queenie exclaimed as she clasped her hands together. Newt and Jacob both entered the apartment right into Queenie’s welcoming arms. She squeezed Newt tightly before passing to Jacob who greeted her with the flowers. Immediately, she took them with her, pecked her boyfriend’s cheek, and dragged him into the kitchen where a vase was waiting. Tina stepped out of her bedroom to greet her visitors. The warm smell of sweets baking in the oven and the faint smell of parchment wafted around the room. It was a bit dim, but the light gleaming from a few select candles made the room feel homely. Once she saw Newt, a huge grin spread across her face and a noticeable skip in her step appeared as she maneuvered towards her friend.

MOOD MUSIC: The Christmas Song
***
Relaxation was a precious commodity for you, and every time you were blessed with that wonderful gift you took full advantage. After all, being able to snag a day off during this time of year was a miracle in and of itself. But, you intended to take every minute and simply enjoy the very basics of life, and of Christmas. Which meant endless mugs of hot cocoa, decorating, and of course, finding the perfect gift for your husband. Thankfully, that didn’t prove difficult to achieve. All the department stores, including yours, were stock full of the most splendid articles of winter clothing. And amongst all that finery, hung the one item Newt would be overjoyed to have.
“I told you no peeking!” With a cheerful tone, you scooted quickly in front of your gift for him. Trying hard to keep his inquisitive eyes off the present. It wasn’t easy to hide things from him, and more often than not you both ended up exchanging gifts far too early for the holidays. Living together provided no sense of privacy in that respect, but you were glad for his company anyway. “Newt!”
His mirthful chuckle brought a smile to your lips, and you shook your head teasingly as you wrapped the bow around the box. You had made a promise for this year, at least one gift would not end up in his hands before Christmas Eve. But that sweet pout, feigned or not, on his face was so hard to deny. “Don’t you dare, Scamander…”
“I’m not doing anything in particular, dar-“
“Don’t you darling me…in that stupid..charming accent of yours…” You trailed off in your frustrated thoughts, knowing he was going to win this round no matter how many times you told him no. Newt had a way of warming your heart and breaking down that resolve you prided yourself on. It could be so romantic and trying at times. “Oh, fine!” You huffed between teeth, grumpily lifting the box and holding it out towards the smiling wizard. “But, you’re making the cocoa tonight.”
“Of course, my love.” He was likely already on that task, judging by the mugs hovering behind him in the kitchen, spoons turning and turning. You had to envy a wizard’s natural gifts, because you had to slave over a pot and steam just to have a perfect cup of hot cocoa.
“I hope you like it, Newt.” You watched him reach for it, eager hands delicately lifting the bow out of place and tiling the white lid off. The second his eyes trailed over the garment you instantly knew he adored it. “You like it, I take it?”
“I can’t think of anything else I’d want more.” The wizard gave you an elated look, his fingers curving over the fine edges of the coarse material. The coat wasn’t his usual color scheme, but the gray suited him so well you could’ve swooned at the sight of him. “It’s perfect, darling. Thank you.” He tugged the sleeves on, puffing out the front to keep it settled on his tall frame. Newt looked the very picture of a distinguished gentleman, and you couldn’t stop the flirty grin that crossed your features.
“You know…it suits you more than I expected it to…” You sat curled up near the Christmas tree, tilting your head to better regard him. The gray added a seriousness to him, not that you hated his original coat. But he had outlived that old tattered article, and you knew needling him to go buy another wouldn’t help. He rarely took care of such mild chores, but that was a blessing in disguise for you. Gave you just the right amount of inspiration needed to find that gift, and luckily he seemed to be overly fond of it already.
“I may never take it off.” Newt grinned at you, grabbing the mug of cocoa and gently setting it in your hand.
“Well, I hope you do.” It was a coy jest, your wink only causing him to laugh and look away as he slowly slipped out of it once more. He laid it over the arm rest of his chair, greedily pulling you up and embracing you.
“Thank you, love.”
“Merry Christmas, Newt.” His eyes were so enchanting sometimes, but you still had so many gifts to wrap and cookies to bake that you had to put his second gift on hold. For a few minutes, that is, because you were certainly keen on the activity you had in mind. “How about you put the star up with your magic,” you motioned to the rather tall tree in your living room in all your muggle glory, knowing it’d be easier to have him do it than climb a ladder and fall again. “And then meet me in the bedroom.” With a sly smile, you dabbed joyfully at the whip cream melting on your cocoa, and playfully tapped him on the nose.

-October 1915-
Newt’s feet carried him as far as they could, heel of his boots sinking into the deep mud as he ran through the forest. He held his gun tightly to his side, other hand hovering over his wand should anything happen. He could hear the faint screech of the dragons flying above him, the canopy of trees blowing harshly forward whenever one flew low enough.
With a sigh he wiped the dried mud from his face, gritting his teeth as he pulled his backpack higher up on his shoulder. A large black shadow cast over him, and he looked up, smiling when he saw his ironbelly fly overhead.
“Jack…”
It was a bit of a confidence booster for him, after having lost numerous comrades just moving towards the western front. He picked up his pace, sacks of equipment hanging heavy off one side as he trudged through the terrain.
“Come on then, boy…”
He whispered out, mainly to his dragon as he slid down the embankment. He could feel the heat of the flames bursting from the dragon’s mouth, a bright orange taking over the sky as fire ran along the trees. The sound of bark crackling in the heat was all he could focus on, never mind the smell of burning pine and dead bodies. Yet, it was all something he wouldn’t soon forget.
He stopped just feet from the river, a small cliff cutting him off from the other side. With all his equipment the last thing he needed was to dive in, not unless he fancied drowning.
“Merlin’s bloody fucking beard…”
He cursed aloud, licking his lips and running a hand over his face in utter frustration. He was rarely one to lose his cool, yet now he felt his temper slowly breaking at the seams.
He gazed around for an easier way to make it down the path, but when he saw none he clicked his tongue and pulled his wand from his belt. The wizard lifted it up, ready to cast a spell and make his day even a bit easier, but as he opened his mouth a blast rang out from behind him.
“Ahh!”
Newt screamed out in pain, a burst of flame propelling him forward into the other side of the forest. An enemy dragon slammed hard into the forest floor, claws impaling the dirt as it roared at Newt. It’s blast had hit him almost dead on, singeing his uniform and burning through his side. He could only be thankful that it managed to aid him across the river, and the coolness of the mud actually gave him some relief from the burning pain running along his ribs. With all the strength he had he lifted himself up, groaning and crying out in pain and anguish. He fell back pathetically into the forest ground, gasping out.
“Halt!”
Newt stiffened when he heard the German accent, his breath leaving him shakily as he stared at his wand laying in front of him. He slowly peeked over his shoulder, hard breath leaving through his nostrils as he saw the German soldier standing above the cliff, wand aimed directly at him. The enemy dragon was advancing towards him, deep growl emitting from it as it stomped towards the edge. A glow of flame began to light its throats, and all Newt could do was tighten his jaw readying himself for death.
“Expelliarmus!”
The German’s wand flew from his hand, falling into the river below and being carried off downstream. Newt used this brief moment to drag himself further up the bank, groaning and grunting in pain. The soldier looked up in surprise, grabbing his gun but before he could use it a blast of light flew into him, making him fly back into the forest.
“Are you ever going to keep yourself out of trouble, little brother?”
Newt threw himself onto his back, gasping for air as he turned his gaze towards the man standing above him, hand extended in aid. He couldn’t stop the grin that found its way onto his lips.
“Theseus.”
Theseus smirked down at him, grabbing Newt’s forearm roughly and pulling him up. He placed an arm around his waist, trying his best to avoid his brother’s injured side.
The dragon’s roar made them both look back, and Theseus sighed in annoyance as he walked Newt along the path.
“I don’t suppose you can talk to dragons?”
The Hufflepuff scoffed at his older brother, dragging his boots along and attempting to keep up with Theseus.
“You and Mother really have no idea what I do for a living.”
Even so, Newt managed a faint whistle, smiling in relief as Jack barreled down into the forest, breaking the trees and opening his claws as he attacked the other dragon. Theseus was surprised for a second, before chuckling and pulling Newt quickly along and away from the barrage of roars and flames going on behind them.
“It appears I do, brother.”
The camp wasn’t too far ahead, and Theseus waved the medics towards him, pulling his brother into a nearby tent where he laid him gently down. He grabbed the canister next to him, screwing off the top and pouring the water clumsily over his younger brother’s lips.
“Drink.”
Newt eagerly swallowed the water, a wave of relief flooding him as he felt his dry lips began to soften once more.
“Come on, man! Hurry it up!”
Theseus ordered his officers around, scowling at the men as he tugged Newt’s coat off, and cutting open his dress shirt. The burns were rather nasty, and they only added to the many bites and scratches that littered the wizard’s body already. But, he wasn’t too concerned. Thankfully, the dragon’s breath managed to cauterize the wounds, keeping his brother from bleeding out.
“I’ve got you.”
He reassured Newt, patting his shoulder as the medics began to heal him with their wands.
****
The magizoologist sat at the corner of the tent, shirtless and bandaged. He had entertained himself with a pen and paper, drawing random beasts along the page before he looked over at the bag he had and saw the letter sticking out of it. With a soft smile he leaned over, gritting his teeth as the wound stretched.
He managed to grab the letter from you, folding it open and letting out a soft chuckle upon seeing your words again. He had wondered then, if you had received his last letter or if perhaps you chose to take his advice and leave the very idea of him behind. But, now was not the time for such thoughts. He ran his trembling fingers along the words you wrote, mind drifting towards you. He pictured you perfectly in his head. Standing there, fixing a meal for him, berating him for not resting…as much as it brought a smile to his face, it also brought heartache.
“Mother will be delighted to know you found yourself a sweetheart.”
Theseus lifted the flap of the tent, waltzing in with an apple in hand as he threw it towards his brother. Newt caught the fruit in his palms, nodding in thanks as he took a bite and savored the sweet flavor.
“So?”
Theseus took a seat on the stool at the side, removing his dress hat and staring intently at his younger brother. His eyebrow was raised in question, posture perfectly straight as he urged the younger to speak to him.
“Sorry, what?”
Newt wasn’t in the mood, and he tried desperately to play the vague question off. Though he knew all too well what Theseus wanted to ask him. Not that it stopped the conversation from continuing. His older brother was always good at getting what he wanted.
“The letter. I read it.”
Newt glared over at him, irritation eating away at his thoughts when Theseus admitted it like nothing.
“You did what?”
“I’m your brother, don’t act like you never went through my things.”
He wasn’t wrong, there were numerous occasions where Newt had found hidden things in his brother’s room, and promptly used it against him sometimes. Brothers would be brothers after all. “I suppose we’re even then.”
Silence developed between them, both smiling at the fond memories of their childhood together. It was Theseus who broke the quiet, finally asking his nagging question.
“Who is it?”
“No one.”
“Fido.” Newt always knew when Theseus used that name on him, he meant business. Such was his brother. Loving yet commanding when his duty called for it. It was almost amusing, if not for the fact that it was directed at him this time. He sighed, caving in to his brother as he spoke.
“You’ve met her.”
“Have I now?”
“She’s a nurse.” Newt shifted, raising himself higher against the cot he sat along. He glanced over at Theseus, noticing how he seemed both amused and concerned.
“You’ve gone and fallen in love with a nurse?”
“Sorry, but you just demanded I tell you all this and now you’re disappointed?”
Theseus smiled, looking down as he turned his hat over, trying to keep his hands busy. “No. Just worried. You’re not very good at picking women.”
“Enough.”
Newt knew he was speaking of Leta. Theseus had never cared for her or her family. Though, now he probably couldn’t blame him…Leta broke his heart many times, it was only fitting she would do it through a troubled time such as this. In a letter no less. But that was long ago now, his heart was being swayed by another and he wasn’t sure he wanted to go into such detail with his older brother.
“Sorry. Over stepped.”
Theseus offered an apologetic smile, waving his previous statement off as he changed the subject. “It’s good to see you, brother. I thought you’d gone and lost your mind when you joined. Even more so when they told me you were working with dragons.” He chuckles lightly. “Thought for sure I’d be hearing you were singed to the bone or eaten.”
A smile finally managed to stretch across Newt’s lips, and he nodded over at the Captain, trying to ease the tension away as well. “Seems you’re doing well for yourself.” He pointed towards the medals along Theseus’ jacket, signifying the rise in rank over the last year and a half. It was always like Theseus to rise above and become the best the wizarding world had to offer. It was something Newt was quite proud of, he always admired his brother’s ambitious nature.
Theseus only scoffed, a half hearted smile upon his lips. “Yeah…”
He didn’t need to say anything else, because Newt knew what he was already thinking. Lost men, horrors of war, all the amazing things the higher ups said they were fighting for. Though it was hardly true.
“I’m sorry.”
It was all Newt could think to say, he wasn’t very good at comforting others, not in the traditional sense. Especially not one as strong as his brother who was usually the more in check one.
Theseus simply shook his head, smiling over at the younger Scamander as if to say it was alright. Because, he knew his brother had gone through just the same.
“Did you write her back?”
“Yes.”
“And?”
“…I don’t know.”
Newt turned his gaze away, eyes now falling towards the last letter he received from you again. He wasn’t sure what bothered him more, the fact that you hadn’t responded or the fact that he was now regretting saying such things to you. It was selfish, it was, truly. He knew that, but after everything all he could think of was you deciding that leaving him behind was, in fact, the best option. It was a moment of weakness on his part, and yet there was still some truth to his words he couldn’t deny. As much as he wished you’d wait for him, he couldn’t bear the thought of you mourning a man that had hardly been there for you.
“I see. So, I’ve met her then?”
Theseus’ words pulled him from his thoughts, and he looked over at his brother, wiping the tears that had begun to form in his eyes.
“Her names Y/N. She cared for you before-”
“Ah, that one.”
Theseus cut him off, chuckling softly as he thought back on his time at the hospital.
“I’m impressed you managed to win that girl’s heart.”
“Theseus.”
Newt warned, not in the mood to deal with the teasing his brother often subjected him to. And for once, Theseus relented, leaning back into the tent walls as he recalled his time with you.
“She’s a good woman. I owe her my life.”
“Yes…” Newt thought back on you, smiling at the memory of your chess games, and playful banter. And to more intimate details, like the feel of your skin under his touch as he dared to flirt here and there, or the way you stared at him with those hopeful eyes. It brought an ease to his emotions, if only for a moment. “As do I.”
“So what? You getting yourself nearly burned to death is your way of getting back to her?”
The Hufflepuff laughed heartily at that, wiping his eyes and licking the trail of a tear that managed to run along his lip.
“I wouldn’t even know where to find her now. I’m sure she’s moved on. All the soldiers are pushing towards the west now.”
“Then she’ll be around. She’s rather resourceful, that one.”
Newt smiled at that, eyes scanning the letter one last time before he agreed.
“Yes…she is.”

“Dear, Y/N,
I cannot describe the joy I felt upon reading your last letter. I never thought a few simple words from you could make my days feel all the brighter…
Yesterday, I visited a POW camp, trying to discern enemy from friend is becoming more and more tiresome. The look upon their faces at the sight of me was something I cannot soon forget, should I feel treasonous to think such things?
Forgive me…I know speaking of such topics cannot be the letters you expect from me.
You spoke of a young man in your letter last time, is he well? It’s the strangest thing, I can’t seem to get him out of my head, I think of his family. He’s far too young…probably joined with a soldier’s passion, then realized the hell hole he had been driven into. But, I know in your hands his chances of survival are high.
You healed me after all. In more ways than one.
Newt Scamander 05, July 1915”
***
Your fingers ran along the crumpled parchment, teeth worrying at your lip. His letter had taken a while to get to you, no surprise. Post was hard to receive these days, and truthfully you merely thankful to receive word from him at all. You could already picture his face, the tone of his lovely voice coming right off the paper. Yet, there was a tiredness there, one that broke your heart for the young soldier. Newt was a constant thought for you, and no matter what you did or where you went he was always heavy on the back of your mind. It had been weeks since you last him, and every letter you received was a relief.
With all the hope you had, you held the letter to your chest, looking out at the horizon as you sat upon the broken down stone wall. Smoke rose in the distance, and you could hear the faint sounds of gunshots. But, even so, you braved the open air and waited all morning until you finally saw the one vehicle trudging along the muddy road, carrying the mail. It took all your dignity not to cry when you were handed his letter, and you only hoped yours would reach him as quickly.
***
“Dear, Newt
I was glad to hear from you, your lack of response worried me. I admit, shamelessly, upon receiving your letter I nearly wept tears of joy and relief. I can already hear you chuckling at my pathetic nature.
As for the boy, he’s doing well. At least, as well as one can hope. He won’t walk again, but he had his life, and I believe that to be enough for him, and his family. I sit with him often, reading him stories, he seems content during those times. I’m sure in time he will heal.
You’re quite gracious to compliment me so, but you seem to forget your own strength. That’s what’s carried you this far.
Sincerely, Y/N 17, August 1915”
***
“Scamander!”
Newt glanced up from the letter, quickly rising when his superior came striding into the tent. He saluted him, fixing his hair as best he could. “Sir.”
“Get your things ready.”
“Sir?”
His lieutenant turned to him, a deep scowl on his face as if he wasn’t in any mood to be questioned. “The French are currently breaking through German defenses, along with our other western units. We have our orders, we’re moving to the western front.”
Newt felt his face run pale, and while things had been relatively tame the past week, save for a few casualties and bombs, he knew the battle on the western front wasn’t something to be desired.
“Yes, sir.”
The lieutenant sighed, and as much as he wasn’t one to let emotions cloud his duties, he turned to Newt. “Finish whatever you need to, then head out with the other unit. They’ve already prepared the Iron Bellies. Besides, your brother should be stationed west, no? Perhaps a family reunion will do you some good.”
Newt gave a half hearted smile, nodding and saluting one final time as the flap to his tent closed. He sat back into the makeshift chair he had, rubbing at his tired eyes before reaching for his paper and quill.
***
“Dearest, Y/N
I suppose life is all we can ask for now days. One could consider themselves lucky to escape with that…please do not weep for me though. Knowing I cannot be there to hold you….forgive my boldness, I’m already overly romanticizing what we have. I know I cannot ask much of you, considering the only thing I have to offer is my heartfelt promise to care for you at the end of all this.
Regardless of the fact, I want you to know if another man offers you a better life, that I wish for you to take it. I know you may think this odd, that what I’m telling you seems cruel. But, I fear my time may not be as long as I hoped, and I only tell you this because I do not want your heart to wait for a man who can only bring you pain.
I move to the western front tonight, if you’re not fully aware by now, A battle has started there. The French and British seek to destroy the German defenses in Artois, though I hear that battle may already be a loss for allied forces.
I must end this letter, though not happily as I wished it’d be. Know that I carry you in my heart always, and May safety follow you.
Love, Newt Scamander 25, September 1915”
***
There are few times in a person life when emotions are so strong everything else ceases to exist. And the only thing that can be heard is the beating of one’s heart and the crushing weight of reality that threatens their very existence. And as you slowly laid Newt’s letter on your cot, you fully experienced that heart breaking moment.
Tears flowed freely down your cheeks, silent sobs wracking your body. You were far too gone to rationalize, to feel anything but pain, and as you sank to your knees you leaned over your small bed, letting out a loud scream that conveyed all your anguish.
Days would go by, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do much else but cry, your work kept you busy enough, but whenever you sat to write, nothing came out. Your mind only lingered on Newt’s wellbeing, yet somehow, thinking of writing him only made your heart ache. It was like confirming he was already gone.
“You should write him.”
You looked up from your coffee, meeting the eyes of your friend as she dusted dirt off her smock. You exchanged exhausted smiles, and she took a seat across from you.
“Write him, Y/N.”
“I can’t….what if-”
“He’s alive.”
“How do you know that?”
“Any man would do everything it took to be able to come back to you.”
A laugh escaped your lips, and you wiped at the tears that spilled, smiling over at her in thanks.
***
“My dearest, Newt
While it is my dearest wish to fulfill every one of your desires, I cannot promise you those ones. You ask too much of me, Scamander. I will not, nor will I ever, cast you from my thoughts or heart. You’ve fully taken them from me, and I willingly let you.
I am deeply, and forever will be, in love with you. From the very moment you took me upon your horse, to the kiss you placed upon my cheek. I am yours. And I will wait through a thousand wars for you, if I must.
Sincerely, Y/N 11, October 1915”
***
“I’ll be back, Meredith!”
You rushed passed your friend, smiling widely when you saw the post heading down the road. Your heels clicked along the concrete of the makeshift hospital you were stationed in, and you excitedly turned around the large pillars, waving at the soldier who was dropping all the mail off.
“Good morning, sir.”
He nodded at you, grabbing a bin from the back of his cart. “Ma'am.”
He placed the bin on the ground, rummaging through it and handing you a pile of envelopes that had twine around them. There was only about 10 letters in hand, and you furrowed your brow.
“Is that all?”
With a sigh, he rose back up, removing his cap and scratching his head before putting it back on. “That’s all, ma'am.”
He moved quick enough, replacing all the bins back properly before moving to get in the vehicle again. You undid the twine, sifting through the letters until you came upon your own. It had a red stamp on it, and all it said was ‘RETURN’.
“Excuse me….”
Dread filled you, but with the slightest bit of hope you held your letter out. “I sent this out weeks ago…”
The war weary soldier glanced at you, shrugging his shoulders as if that wasn’t the first time he’s heard that. “If we can’t find the soldier the letter is addressed to it gets returned when possible. Good day, ma'am.”

Imagine: Being in an arranged marriage with Newt.
“But, I don’t want to marry him Rosie.” Your voice cracked at the end of your words, heart heavy in your chest at the thought of marrying a complete stranger. But, your sister, ever the happy one, simply smiled.
“Oh, don’t be dreary Y/N. You think father would match you up with some blaggerd?”
You trusted your father, with everything, but losing your free will was not something to be happy for. It seems your hand was a high price, and the Scamander family paid it in full. Rosie tied up the back of your dress, fluffing out the bottom, and looking up at you.
“There. You look so lovely! I dare say Mr. Scamander won’t be able to keep his eyes off you.”
It was a dinner event in a few minutes, and on this day it would seem you’d be meeting your betrothed for the first time. A simple meeting before the wedding that was supposed to take place in a month. Your future was set before you, and yet it wasn’t something you wanted. This isn’t how you imagined falling in love, better yet it wasn’t even a promise there’d be love involved at all.
“Rosie…the man fancies himself a magizoologist. Whatever that is, I believe he made that title up.”
Your sister giggled at your cruelties, rolling her eyes and pinching your cheeks to create a blush. “Now be kind, sister. He’s actually the most prominent one in the beasts division at the ministry.”
“Rosie, he’s the only one…”
“Well, still. Better to be the best by yourself than the worst in the bunch.”
A smile formed on your features, and you pushed your sisters fussy hands away. “I’ll meet him. But, I won’t marry him.”
“Well, you’ll do as you please as you always do, Y/N. I, on the other hand, have heard quite the rumors about his older brother, Theseus. I hear he’s very handsome.”
Your sister trailed off about the older Scamander, and you couldn’t help but smile. If anything, her gaining some happiness from this situation was more than enough reason to just deal with tonight. She left the room, and you followed a bit after, entering the dining hall with a sense of dread. Every step closer to it, took you that much nearer to the future.
“Ah! My dear daughter!”
Your father, and the rest of the men stood from their chairs, awaiting your entrance. You smiled softly, not looking up because you were frightened of which man in here was your husband to be. Rosie motioned for you to sit next to her, and it was at least comforting to be next to a familiar face. With a sigh you sat down, looking up when a woman with red hair leaned over the table towards you. She was pretty, a slight bit older, but still ever the bit happy.
“Oh, my darling! I’ve been dying to meet you. I’m Your future mother in law!”
She clapped happily, taking your hand in hers as she stared at you. She was rather excited, and you’d be lying if you said her enthusiasm wasn’t contagious.
“My dear boy has been eager to meet you.”
At her words your heart fell, and you gathered as much courage as you could to ask. “Um…may I ask which one is your-”
She cut you off, pointing her butter knife towards a young, handsome brooding man at the end of the table.
“That is my oldest, and darling son, Theseus.”
Rosie leaned over to you, cupping a hand over her mouth as she whispered. “Isn’t he handsome, Y/N? Oh I believe he’d make a fine husband for me.”
A feeing of relief washed over you, for a moment you had believed him to be your fiancé. And as handsome as he was, his demeanor was rather off putting. You smiled at Rosie, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Go and talk to him.”
She did just that, hugging you tightly before excusing herself and heading in his direction. Just as you were going to ask about your fiancé, the doors to the dining hall flew open, and a young, handsome man stood there. His suit was of fine make, and his reddish brown hair was slicked back just enough to show off his features. He had a very freckled face, and you’d dare say he was a gentleman if not for the crooked bow tie he had on.
“Oh! My dear, Newton!”
Mrs. Scamander stood up, walking over to her son and kissing his cheek. Newton smiled back, fighting off his mother’s incessant affections.
“It’s a pleasure to see you too, mother.”
Your father walked passed you, holding his arms out as he went and shook the man’s hand. Newton’s eyes looked upon your father, and you couldn’t stop yourself from noticing how delightfully green his gaze was, sparkling brightly against the rays of sun that seeped through the windows.
Newton shook his hand quickly, scratching at his head as he spoke. “Forgive my tardiness…I was chasing my Niffler. Um, please excuse the mess in your ballroom, sir…I believe the chandelier might need some mending.”
Yet, your father hardly seemed to care for such things. He just laughed, and patted the man on the back and held his arm out towards you.
“Newton, allow me to introduce my daughter, Y/N.”
You felt the world crashing down on you, all the attention now on you as you slowly got up from your chair. The wobble of your knees betrayed the calm look you had, but you managed to stop just in front of Newton. His charming gaze met yours, and in that second your heart stopped. Maybe it was the few sips of champagne you had, but you ventured a guess that he felt the same that second.
“It’s a…” Your mouth felt dry, and you sighed as you bit at your lip nervously. “A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Scamander.” You held out your hand, waiting for a shake of his, and instead he just stared seemingly entranced by you.
His mother pushed him gently on the side, interrupting his thoughts. He shook his head, and grabbed your hand in his, but instead he flipped yours over, kissing the back of it gently.
“Um…yes, a pleasure.”
It would seem the whole room became quiet, all awaiting the first moments of love to take place. And you two just stood there, your hand still clutched in his. It was Rosie’s giggle that brought you back to reality, and you tore your hand away from his.
“Well, shall we eat?”
Your father’s voice filled the room, and everyone happily took their seats, conversation starting up again. Newton took his seat next to you, eyes never leaving your form. It was making you slightly uncomfortable, and yet your stomach would not seem to settle around him. A fine blush spread across your cheeks, and you glanced in his direction.
“Is there something amiss, Mr. Scamander?”
He looked away, embarrassed a bit at having been caught gawking. “Uh..no no.” He smiled, grabbing for his cup of champagne. “Forgive me. And please…Newt is fine.”
With a smile, you nodded at him mimicking his movements out of nerves and grabbing for your glass. “As you wish, Newt.”
He seemed happy with the change in titles, and he took a quick sip of his drink before engaging you in conversation.
“May I ask what it is you do?”
You turned the potatoes over on your plate, the realization that you’re a total stranger to him covering the attraction you felt when you saw him. With a bit of a rude tone you answered him.
“I’m set to be a professor at Hogwarts this semester. Potions.”
He didn’t seem worried with your tone, and he just smiled actually intrigued by your admission.
“Hogwarts is the finest wizarding school, I’m sure you’re proud to be-”
But, this polite conversation was getting to you, knowing you were talking to your future husband without so much as a say in the matter. You slammed your fork down, everyone’s eyes falling on you. The embarrassment you felt was overwhelming, and you gripped the edges of your dress and rose from your chair.
“Excuse me.
Your father got up to trail after you, but Newt held his hand up. “No, please allow me.”
He rushed after you, calling out your name as you ran down the halls of your home. It wasn’t like you had a plan in mind, you just wanted away from it all.
“Leave me be, Mr. Scamander!”
But, he didn’t listen, he chased after you until your heeled feet couldn’t take much more. You kneeled down against the garden walls of the outside, tears welling in your eyes. His footsteps came closer, and you waved your arm at him, willing him away.
“Please, just go away…”
Newt kneeled down next to you, eyes filled with worry. “Y/N…”
“I don’t want to get married!”
His eyes softened, and he gave you a knowing smile as he wiped a tear away.
“Then we don’t have to.”
His words took a moment to settle, but you gazed up at him in shock. “Truly?”
Newt nodded, and he grabbed your hand in his as he spoke. “I need you to understand, my intentions were never meant to cause you any ill will. I agreed to this marriage for my mother’s sake…and I won’t pretend that I’m…” He looked deeply into your eyes, a blush forming on his freckled cheeks. “That I’m not, um, entranced by you Miss Y/N.”
You felt those familiar butterflies again, only this time you did not panic at their formation. His understanding meant everything to you right now, and you gripped his hand tighter in yours as he continued.
“I don’t expect you to love me, not now, maybe not ever…but, if you’ll allow me the chance…” He looked down, not wanting to look you in the eye as he spoke the last part. “If you’ll have me, then I’d like to get to know you. And if marriage is in the future then, I would be honored to be your husband.”
It wasn’t the proposal your parents were quite hoping for, but to you both it meant the world. You smiled through your tears, and leaned over to kiss him on the cheek in gratitude. He returned your smile, and he rubbed the back of your hand with a soft comforting touch. “Then will you take me as a suitor?”
You giggled delightfully, nodding your head and whispering.
“Yes.”
Hey there buddy! Can you do a list of newts kinks? Like the head cannon thing? Thank you, lovely, and hey congrats on getting married!
But, there’s just far too many! He’s got a list, hun! Lol I love this request and I will do my best to create it for you!!!
-Newt was the introverted type, but he was a man with quite a few particular tastes when it came to the bedroom. -Newt’s kinks were no secret to you, and you could practically list a number of them. Not that you mind.-Newt loves bite play, and he somehow managed to be both gentle and rough when it came to such things. A soft nip, just enough to elicit a shiver of pleasure, but he soon soothes it with his hot tongue. -Newt loves caressing you, even if it’s just lying on the bed. It arouses him to no end, running his fingertips along the curve of your body, delighting in the soft skin of your waist, or along he curve of your breast. Or simply slipping his hand along your inner thigh.-Newt also has a thing for watching you cook, or prepare tea in just his shirt. And he’ll stand there watching with a grin as you do it.-Newt enjoys hearing you purr out his name, whether it was during your intimate moments, or just welcoming him home after a long day of researching. -Newt loves it when you rake your nails across his back.-The wizard also loves the way you perform your own magic, how delicate and graceful you are with your wand. It distracts him all the time, because all he can think of is wrapping his arms around you.-Newt loves it when you nibble on his lower lip, giving him that cute little grin.-The Hufflepuff adores watching you undress, and you know it’s one of his favorite things. And even if it drives him crazy, he loves it when you do it slowly, exposing your skin little by little until he’s a complete mess. -And most of all, Newt just loves it when you tease him. There’s something about you being in control that sends him over the edge.
Hope that’s ok!!! I may think of more but this is what I feel Newt would be like once he got comfortable enough with someone haha
There’s also this list!!!
