I'I'm Dan, 31-year-old dude who got into anime watching things with giant robots and explosions and now can be counted on to blog mecha, sports, some action and drama, plus shoujo on recommendation. Started following you around the time that SM was being streamed on Hulu... it was the first time I really sat down to watch any of it since it was on Toonami during my "it's for girls" phase, but now I'm like, oh wow, this is basically just Power Rangers. If you HAD to pick a favorite senshi, who?
Hi Dan! You mean Gundam Wing and something like that? :) So did I got that right that you started watching Sailor Moon only a few years ago? And yes it’s like Power Rangers in sailor uniforms and skirts with every Sailor have their own element their own color… I would pick Sailor Uranus/Haruka immediately. I don’t know but badass characters are my weakness. Plus they are so charming xD

You could consider the Brave series, which IIRC are completely fansubbed at this point. Early- through mid-90s toy commercials mostly, but they do follow toku-style formulas and while the heroes are generally children, they do have adults running the secret org or whatever.
conceptually the brave series does work a lot better for me, since from what i know the robots are generally sentient beings? sort of like ultramans. and it’s more like they’re teaming up with these kids who are able to help them in certain ways, but the robot guy is still the one doing most of the actual fighting. i find that kind of setup much more fun & cute and less worrisome.
the wiki is a little uh. difficult to parse though so it’s kinda hard to tell which one i might like... for a while i’ve thought mr j-decker in particular is a very handsome robot even if he’s a cop so maybe i’ll try that one at some point

I was told it gets better after episode two but I don’t care enough to find out if that’s true
I gave it like 4 episodes. I thought the cartoonish looking robot girls were kind of cute! but...they....sure do pilot the robots like that!
