This is little Wyatt who just came here a couple days ago. He has an unusually shortened face. This condition is often called hydrocephaly in some hamster groups, but it doesn't actually match up well with the specific physiology of the disease hydrocephaly. Instead, a better term is "brachycephalic". Much like the dog breeds with incredibly short faces, these guys seem to be a mistake of extreme breeding. The main issue that these brachycephalic hamsters seem to have is losing or undergrowing their incisor teeth. Wyatt here is down to one and a half incisors, so they'll need to be frequently reshaped to prevent overgrowth. #hamster #brachycephaly #cute #newwheel https://www.instagram.com/p/CD79Dr0A-K8/?igshid=1vsckqte7ev7m
