Here’s a toast to the New Year! 

The year of 2018 seemed to be a tough one for many of the people that I know, for many reasons. From devastating familial losses, to hard conversations with significant people ending in hurt feelings; from legal trials and tribulations, to dark headlines in the news- there have been many struggles throughout this last year. Through the traversing of those struggles, however, always comes lessons learned, new opportunity, strength, and Life. 

There were many wonderful things about 2018, also. 

I personally, flew a record number of times to exciting destinations, and was able to take my 2 younger brothers on a backpacking sojourn of Europe, where we watched World Cup matches in the teams’ respective countries. (We’re talking a once in a lifetime opportunity, here.) 

Hostel Fish, too, as a company, has a ridiculously cool future ahead of us, thanks to moves made in 2018, and an awful lot of hard work. I have witnessed an incredible amount of growth in my time with Hostel Fish, and I am very proud to be part of such a unique business, with so many wonderful people.  

Ultimately, there are many things to be thankful for about this last year, which absolutely includes those worst of times. For without those frustrating/heartbreaking growing pains, you’d never find yourself in the truly beautiful situations. Many of those same people I know have told me that yes, while 2018 was very tough for them- especially at the beginning- it has certainly been on the up and up. I find myself in complete agreement with this sentiment. There is everything to look forward to in 2019. 

“May you understand the journey you’ve been on, and the lessons learned. May you apply those lessons, and work ever more intently towards achieving your goals. May you be thankful for the best of times, as well as the worst of times (which tend to spur change in the best of ways); and may each year be better than the last.  Here’s to 2019!”
