E3 - Nintendo = ..E2? NeXbox to blame!
Original story at IGN here.
Nintendo have announced they won't be holding a traditional large-scale conference at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, instead focusing on its very popular (and very cool) Nintendo Direct service, as well as a few behind-closed-doors affairs at E3 with the press, that I assume will not be streamed. This news comes very close behind Microsoft's announcement that..they're..going..to announce...something (Gaming biz, am I right?).
I feel that Nintendo might have been contemplating a big display at E3 and this announcement was the nail in the coffin. As the Wii U slowly but surely chugs its way into a better release schedule, and having just announced the new Zelda and Yoshi's Island titles(announced through aforementioned Nintendo Direct), I can't imagine the big N would have much petrol in the tank. Therefore, with Sony and Microsoft cracked and smacked up on their new consoles, Nintendo would surely be left in the dust. Therefore, my assumption is that this decision doesn't flag the end of big conferences for Nintendo at E3, but just that they're sitting this one out, as they have no material.
