❝ not all diamonds receive our foresight when we are born. ❞ she is laying on the water's surface — weightless with diamond shaped pupils gazing at the twinkling starlight — the hushed sound of her voice gently forms ripples of water around her body. ❝ it comes to us when we are ready — & when we aren't. ❞ when a diamond is born, it's for a reason. they burst out of the ground — into phase of sentience — already knowing what they're supposed to be, and then — that's what they are. ❝ when I gained my foresight, I saw my brother [...] then the things he would do & what he would eventually do to me. ❞ her thumb gently traces the cerulean diamond embedded into her chest, the haunting of a scar finds it's way back to her thoughts and somehow it feels too hollow to be so fresh in her head — under her skin.
❝ I felt so small when it happened — when my diamond cracked under the weight of his fist. ❞ themis closes her eyes, the way the water cradled her enormous body had relieved some the ache she felt. Relieved some of the anger she had thought long gone.
