the blue diamonds are essentially alien space rocks and we're first discovered in caves where they naturally form into the mineral shape and then burst from the ground and walls similar to selenite. I wanna say because diamond is harder than selenite, that could be where they originated from in our lore. They only gained sentience and physical forms because of The Primordial Father's sorcery because he wanted to surprise the Queen with a unique gift since she had a particular fondness for diamonds as jewelry and never really thought they could become sentient beings. So after that, they had a total of seven blue diamond daughters (Themis included). If one died, another was picked to take her place.

With that in mind, it means that Themis and her predecessors ARE NOT biologically related to any of their primordial family members. They don't grow physically in terms of how human beings age when they are born. They are just automatically adults, especially since their "genderless" but identify with feminine pronouns like she and her. Sometimes it's they or them if you are referring to all of the diamonds.

they kind of function like a hive mind but at the same time they don't. It's kind of like having a twin and you can feel what they feel if that makes sense. Themis, when referring to her predecessors and the non sentient diamonds, she'll use the term "we" or "they" because it is referring to all of them as one even though they have individualism in their personalities and how they dress besides sharing the name blue diamond.

From her predecessors, not all of them were diplomats (at least they didn't stay in that one role) some of them were out on the battlefield and taking full charge in being rulers beside their father which lead to those nine planets being under their rule. The first diamond had a scythe as her signature weapon. The third diamond had a bow and arrow. Themis has her medieval styled sword. I wanna say, the first diamond became the most feared of them all.
