A Gut Feeling About the Next Pope
I’m not in the business of predicting the future never have been, never will be. That’s a dangerous game. The world’s already saturated with people playing prophets in politics, tech, and pop culture. Most of them get it wrong, spectacularly. So I’m not here to join their ranks. What I am offering, however, is insight. Call it gut instinct, call it observational wisdom maybe even just a hunch backed by years of watching the world tick.
So here it is, plain and simple: I think the next Pope might be Luis Antonio Gokim Tagle.
No, not because I’ve seen smoke signals or studied the internal politics of the Vatican with a magnifying glass. Not because I’m an insider in the halls of Rome. Just… something tells me. Something intuitive. Filipino-born, deeply theological, already within the structures of Catholic authority the man has a quiet magnetism, a modern sensibility laced with firm doctrinal grounding. He’s been Archbishop of Manila, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples a role with global influence. And let’s not forget: the Church is looking more and more toward the Global South. Tagle represents that turn.
But again, I’m not making a prediction. I’m not staking a claim like a bookie at the Grand National. I’m simply saying… if it turns out to be him, I want it known that I called it, here and now, in this humble post before the white smoke rises, before the world starts scrambling to Google his name.
Soon, the College of Cardinals will retreat into the Sistine Chapel. The doors will close, and centuries-old rituals will begin again. Debate, discussion, silent reflection, and then voting. Over and over until one name emerges above the rest. That’s how it’s always been. And I, like many others, will be watching — not as a gambler, but as an observer of tradition, theology, and history in motion.
Only time will tell if I’m right. But for now… this is on the record.
