Tech news: Nextbase launches flagship 4K dashcam 622GW

Top-end dashcam 622GW follows success of 422GW and 522GW models and their modular plug-in cameras

I have got a Nextbase 422GW dashcam installed in my car and it’s a marvellous piece of kit. It monitors what’s going on in front of my car and to the rear.

Nextbase, Europe’s leading dashcam brand, has now launched in Ireland its flagship model, the 622GW (below right).

It is the world’s first dashcam to offer lifesaving​ ​what3words​ and Emergency SOS alert capabilities. The device can call emergency services for you and provide a precise location.

Location service What3words is an alternative to GPS. It provides your location within a three square metre area in an easy to understand three words to share with the emergency services — even without a data connection.

There is plenty of top-end kit built in to the Nextbase 622GW too. The device includes Intelligent Parking Mode and Extreme Weather Mode.

The camera captures video in super sharp 4K resolution with ace stabilisation recorded at 30fps.

And you can play back your footage in Super Slow Motion at 120fps to give you complete control over your video.

Plug-in modules are also available at the best image quality yet, including the Rear Camera Module that films at a quality of 1080p at 30fps.

This is thanks to the latest Ambarella H22 quad-core chipset, tuned specifically by Nextbase, which covers the driver’s car from multiple angles at the highest level of filming quality possible.

The 622GW includes a 3in touchscreen, enhanced night vision and faster video transfers.

Nextbase has also incorporated Alexa so you can control your dashcam with your voice.
