PROGRAMMA Next Generation Speaks Internationale Conferentie

"The more you can make young people’s voices relevant, the more they will become your weapons of social change" aldus Hodari Davis (ZA) , een van de sprekers tijdens de Next Generation Speaks (NGS) internationale conferentie.
Tijdens NGS hebben partners in 3 continenten een safe space geboden aan jonge dichters en spoken word artiesten waarin zij hun ervaringen mening konden delen met peers over de wereld. Een fysieke en digitale vrije ruimte waarin de stem van jongeren telt en een plek heeft gekregen in internationale uitwisselingen, diverse podia, maandelijkse writing challenges en het Next Generation Speaks E-book dat we tijdens de conferentie lanceren. Laat je inspireren door de memorabele ervaringen en werp samen met inspirerende gasten uit Verenigde Staten, Zuid-Afrika, België en Engeland een blik op de toekomst:
Wat is de maatschappelijke kracht van spoken word? Hoe kunnen wij via Spoken Word de toekomstige generatie wereldwijd een stem geven? Hoe kunnen we vanuit cultuur, onderwijs en beleid hierin samen optrekken? Welke rol kan digitale media spelen en hoe pak je dat aan?

1. Brave New Voices in the world – James Kass and Jade Schiff
This workshop is mainly aimed at cultural organisers, policymakers and funders
How do we create safe spaces worldwide for youth? How do we make sure that their voices are heard? How can we cooperate in building a global movement?
In this workshop we will explore the concept of an international movement in which the writings and the voice of youth matters. Why is it needed? And what does it take? How do we reframe how young people are being heard?
2. Spoken word as a digital movement – Qhakaza Mthembu & Afurakan Mohare
This workshop is mainly aimed at poets, artists and spoken word organisations
We are living in a digital era, and spoken word travels faster than ever via the internet. We will explore future possibilities for Spoken Word in a digital world. How can digital media strenghten your artistry? We will share tips and tricks on how to build a digital brand (with spoken word).
3. The role of Spoken word in education – Elten Kiene & Hodari Davis
This workshop is mainly aimed at educators and organisers working together with education
Great things can come out of a cooperation between education and spoken word, so how do we bring the 2 worlds closer together? We will present some successfull models applied in schools and a panel of 3 young poets will share their experiences. Last, participants can share their different experiences and questions.

De conferentie is gericht op mensen uit cultuur en onderwijs, beleidsmakers, fondsen, spoken word artiesten / vertegenwoordigers en voor iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in het thema. Voertaal is Engels.

Workshops en Performances:
Op vrijdag 22 september organiseren wij Internationale Spoken Word workshops voor jongeren (middag) en Woorden Worden Zinnen X NGS XL (avond). Beiden met spoken word Artiesten uit binnen- en buitenland! Meer info:
