Chapter 12

You lay your head against his chest and close your eyes, he moves his arm away from you as he stares at the ceiling waiting for you to fall asleep, which didn’t take long. An arrangement?  He thought looking down at you, he shifted his arm towards you and hesitates for a moment , until finally making the decision to hold you close watching as a smile lands on your face. Maybe he could find a way to get used to this after all.

A Journey Into Your Mind

During her journey in search of the "Free Will" Ravonna visited various universes.

She needed to find herself and figure out what to do.

In one of the universes she visited, she stayed in a very nice motel.

One night around midnight as she was walking back to the motel she noticed that someone was following her.

Ravonna: *Turned on the TimeStick* Whoever you are, come out!

The mysterious figure came out. She was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt that covered her head, a black cap, a black scarf that covered part of her face leaving only her eyes uncovered, a pair of black fingerless gloves, a pair of black leggings and black sneakers.

Ravonna: Who are you? What do you want from me?

The figure didn't answer and attacked Ravonna.

They fought and Ravonna tried to prune the mysterious black figure, but the figure squeezed the nerve of Ravonna's elbow knocking her out.

The figure took off her cap and scarf revealing her identity: It was none other than Sylvie.

Sylvie: This time, I'll finish the job! *Sylvie said with a confident smile*

Sylvie took Ravonna's TimeStick, loaded Ravonna on her shoulders and carried her to her home, which was 10 minutes away from that area.

Arriving home she tied Ravonna to the bed and entered her memories, more specifically the memory of when Sylvie and Ravonna were in the Time Court after Ravonna pruned Loki in the Time Theater.

Sylvie wanted to take the opportunity to ask Ravonna again about her Nexus event. In that memory Sylvie had taken Ravonna's TimeStick and therefore Ravonna was disarmed and terrified, so what better time to ask her the question again?

*In Ravonna's mind*

Sylvie: This is it, isn't it? This is where you dragged me after you stole my life.

Ravonna was terrified.

Sylvie: I'll ask you one last time, what was my Nexus Event? You'd better answer if you don't want me to send you to Hel! *She said threatening her with the TimeStick*

Ravonna: You weren't interested in power!

Sylvie: What?

Ravonna: You remember that when you were arrested you were playing with your toys, right?

Sylvie: Yes

Ravonna: With your dolls you were enacting a heroic scenario where you were a Valkyrie so it's like you explicitly said you wanted to be a hero. Your timeline predicted you would take a similar path to your variant's path and thus this constituted a Nexus Event.

Sylvie was shocked. She stopped enchanting Ravonna and put her head in her hands.

Ravonna regained consciousness and found herself bound to the bed.

Ravonna: What's going on? What do you want from me? *She said wriggling*

Sylvie pointed her sword at Ravonna.

Sylvie: I WAS JUST A CHILD! *Screamed Sylvie*

Ravonna: S-Sylvie I-

Sylvie: *She cut her off* SHUT UP! I ENTERED INTO YOUR MIND WHILE YOU WERE PASSEN OUT AND FIND OUT WHAT MY NEXUS EVENT WAS!

Ravonna was terrified.

Sylvie: YOU TREATED ME LIKE A CRIMINAL! YOU HAVE DESTROYED MY LIFE! I WAS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD! *Screamed Sylvie on the verge of tears*

Ravonna: I understand that you're angry, but please calm down! I was forced to do it!

Sylvie put a hand around Ravonna's throat.

Sylvie: Were you also forced to pretend you didn't remember my Nexus Event? Do you remember our conversation in the elevator, Ravonna? You knew how important it was for me to know but you didn't care! *Sylvie said in a low but threatening and angry tone*

Ravonna was gasping for air.

Ravonna: P-Please, I can't breathe!

Sylvie removed her hand from Ravonna's throat and Ravonna caught her breath.

Sylvie: You put a collar around my neck and Loki's neck like we were dogs! Tell me Ravonna, how does it feel to be helpless? How does it feel to fear for your life? How does it feel to be the prey?

Ravonna: Do you want to kill me? Fine, do it! Just know that this won't change anything! You won't feel any better and will only reveal yourself as a hypocrite, since I'm also a variant!

Sylvie felt numb. Her sword slipped from her hand and fell to the ground. The blond-haired Goddess huddled in a corner of the room.

Sylvie: Why did you lie to me that day? *She asked in an emotionless tone*

Ravonna: I wanted revenge.

Sylvie: For what? What did I ever do to you that was so awful when I was only 8?

Ravonna: They tortured me.

Sylvie: What?

Ravonna: I took pity on you because you were just a child and for this I was punished with torture. After a while I started to hate you because I thought it was your fault for what happened to me, but in reality both you and I are victims in this absurd situation. Trust me when I tell you that I am truly sorry for what I did to you.

Sylvie stood up and walked out of the room. She returned seconds later with a bottle of water. She used her sword to free Ravonna from the ropes and offered her the bottle of water.

Sylvie: Don't worry, it's not poisoned.

Ravonna: Thank you *Ravonna drank some water*

Sylvie: What are you doing in this universe?

Ravonna: I'm trying to clear my head. This is not the first universe I've visited.

Sylvie: So you just wander through timelines aimlessly like a hippie? *She said sarcastically*

Ravonna: Exactly. *She answered laughing*

The atmosphere had become slightly calmer.

Ravonna: Can I ask you something?

Sylvie: Sure.

Ravonna: Could you show me my true identity?

Sylvie: Do you want me to enchant you again?

Ravonna: Yes. I want to know who I really am.

Sylvie began to enchant Ravonna to restore her suppressed memories. Luckily her memories were mostly good memories.

When Sylvie finished tears streamed down Ravonna's cheek.

Ravonna: I was happy! *She said crying*

They hugged tightly. The anger and hatred they felt for each other were definitely gone.

So lately I’ve been thinking a lot about what Sylvie said in episode 4 - “everywhere I went caused a Nexus Event, because I’m not supposed to exist” and “the universe manifests chaos…like me being born the Goddess of Mischief” - and now I have a lot of criticism questions comments and concerns about her backstory and her Nexus Event

How can Sylvie call herself the Goddess of Mischief when she didn’t even grow up in Asgard? To my knowledge Æsir don’t get their titles until they grow older so that they get something based on their traits. That’s what I read somewhere but correct me if I’m wrong (this is the one genuine question I have lmao not tryna be snarky)

If Sylvie wasn’t supposed to exist simply BECAUSE she was born the Goddess of Mischief then shouldn’t she have been taken away by the TVA right when she was born?

Again if Sylvie wasn’t supposed to exist and everywhere she went caused a Nexus Event then she’d be a Nexus Being. Like a certain Scarlet Witch. And we know that because Agatha specifically says “you’re not supposed to exist, you’re a Nexus Being.” So is Sylvie a Nexus Being too or do the writers just not know what they’re talking about? Yes obviously it’s the latter it was a rhetorical question

In episode 1 we’re told via Mobius’s conversation with Loki that the reason the TVA is after Sylvie is because “a variant” - Sylvie - “has been killing our minutemen and we need your help.” So why in episode 4 does Sylvie make it sound like the reason the TVA is after her is because her existence is a problem to them? Stick to one story ffs.

In episode 6 Sylvie tells Loki “I was pruned before you even existed” when Loki was pruned right in front of her?? The writers deadass forgot what being pruned means I guess so I’ll tell you - it means sending someone to the Void from the TVA. Sylvie was taken from the TVA before Loki existed, not pruned. Her timeline was pruned aka reset and Loki was born once again.
