The fact that this extension business isn’t just the first time that something like this has happened. Not the two birds one stone with Ja’Marr and Tee being extended at the same time, but Joe fighting for it. The difference this time is he did it in an undeniably public way. Ja’Marr being drafted back in 2021? Whispers and allusions to Joe telling the Bengals to draft Ja’Marr (and not Sewell) and they’d kill it that season. This year, the three of them drove their public campaign straight to Paycor and set the house on fire about it.
Truly, the narrative has never been more alive and well. They wanted to stay together and they made it happen. I just love that this extension isn’t the first time. It’s not even the second, if the vague comments about Joe supporting Ja’Marr in pre-season contract talks last year, but mostly staying out of the business side of things, are to be believed.
