NGC6334, the Cat’s Paw Nebula, also known as the Bear’s Claw Nebula is an emission nebula found in Scorpius. It is approximately 50 light years across and is some 5,500 light years away from us. It is one of the nearest H-II regions to the solar system. Its known as the cat’s paw as it resembles a gigantic version of one and is a vast and very active stellar nursery. Studies by researchers from the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics released in 2013 suggests its undergoing a stellar version of the baby boom, a period of rapid star formation. In the corner is a partial view of NGC 6357, the War and Peace Nebula or Lobster Nebula it also lies some 5,500 light years away from us. NGC 6334 - Cat's Paw Nebula
Took this with our 14-inch telescope a while ago and finally processed it properly this weekend. About 4 hours of light-gathering in total.
