So I'm rereading Nothing Gold Can Stay by @perkynurples (yes, this absolutely is a rec in case you're into Bagginshield, if you couldn't tell) for the upteenth time
And for the upteenth time I choked on my own saliva laughing because of the gem that is
My finished version of @perkynurples amazing fic Nothing Gold Can Stay. I had a lot of fun making this. There are some things I know I can do better so I'm excited to make even more fanbinds. The sequel and epilogue are currently in the typesetting stage so I won't have those done yet.
For this bind I use Heat Transfer Vinyl for the first time. It was a bit finicky but the result looks great. No more hand painting spines!!
I also tried toner reactive foil, which worked alright. I wish it would have adhered better but it did its purpose.
i'm rereading the LotR books for the first time in [REDACTED] years and I totally forgot that elves just. naturally ride bareback. quote Gandalf in "The Palantír":
'I did not know you rode bare-back, Gandalf,' he [Pippin] said. 'You haven't a saddle or a bridle!'
'I do not ride elf-fashion, except on Shadowfax,' said Gandalf.
however when Glorfindel meets Strider and the Hobbits on the road, it does mention his horse wearing a headstall, which means that isn't always the case for elves riding bareback on their horse. maybe bareback is preferred and tack is added in dangerous sitations? so warhorses and such would be full decked out but if you're aiming for speed or pleasure, you'd forgo from equipment?
anyways, i'm just tickled that my randomly chosen detail in NGCS chapter 49 was accidentally canonically accurate lmaooo
so ive been reading your lotr fic(s) and i was wondering if you were going to go more in depth about the system of earrings/gender for the elves? its such a fantastic idea and i would love for it to one day be fanonized (is that a word? who knows). thanks!
hi! first, thanks for reading!
second, i do keep meaning to expand on it but other things keep happening and i can't stop Cýrlinnaril despite my best efforts. she really just does what she wants lmao. i'm hoping to get to it before we hit chapter 35 at least.
third, the earring idea getting fanonized (seems like a legit word to me) seems fun! i'd love to see other people's interpretations! earrings have always been such a beautiful way to signal social standing in cultures across the world and i just thought it would make so much sense for elves! i won't uh, go into a rant about it (save that for the fic lol) but yes, it would be fun if that happened!
“ “I told you a hundred times before,” he chuckles, “and I suppose I shall tell you again – I have no plans to leave you, none whatsoever. I love you, and frankly, I find it hilarious that you'd think a bunch of paps getting a bit rude might make me change my mind.” “

Nothing Gold Can Stay is probably one of my favorite fanfictions of all time and while I was reading the last chapter of its sequel I couldn’t help but feel the urge to draw this scene. I hope to improve more as I practice drawing so that I’ll be able to make more fanart for this amazing story.

Contrary to what historians vehemently debated a full century later, avoiding the beast of White Agony Plains was much easier than what was concluded. All Goldie had to do was run in the opposite direction of the mammoth’s furious roars, and this she accomplished without breaking a sweat, a natural consequence of spending five years encased in a glacier.
But what if...just what if...those researchers missed the mark in their research? What if...through random happenstance and moral epiphany she returned to where Scrooge was interred and freed him?
What if Goldie decided she loved Scrooge more than gold?
This is the story historians missed.
Scrooge and Goldie stay up late with some mutual pressing, if you catch my drift.
Chapter 21: Backward Reconciliation is going to keep you up all night long, or not.
I know I said it would take awhile to finish this, but the recent comments on the last post were really encouraging. I really appreciate the wonderful things you guys had to say <3
So here it is! @perkynurples "For The Ages Of A Day" and "Autumns That There Were". I ended up binding the pair of them together because the epilogue is so short in comparison. I think it came out really well!
I had a lot of trouble with this fabric unfortunately. You can see that the fabric coloration is quite varied and it's very, very thin. Don't buy cloth from Amazon if you can help it lol.
If you want the typeset for yourself, you can find it here:
All of my typesets are available for personal use and are available on my Tumblr page. You can also request a typeset for free <33
To perkynurples:
Your series was and is one of my absolute favorite stories I've ever read. I had such a blast reading it and then rereading it again as I typeset and bound it together. NGCS holds a very special place in my heart. It was my first real endeavor into bagginshield and it's been such a pleasure reading the stories in that fandom. I hope you enjoy the typesets I sent you <3
