🪱- Which of your characters would actually have used the powers the parasite grants and who would’ve resisted it the longest?
This is tough because I really only have one fleshed-out OC that I just pour hours and hours into and play over and over again. The only companion that uses the parasites in my party is Minthara, and my Tav Ashwyn never ever ever uses them for any reason. She's very adamantly against it to the point of throwing the ones she acquires into a void somewhere.
🩸- Have you written—or would you write—something exploring the Dark Urge? How do you interpret it?
I haven't written a DU, but the one I campaign I started was with the intention of doing a horror run. If I wrote something about the DU, I think it would probably be like a failed redemption story. Like DU tries to control and move past the darkness inside, builds connections with people, and then ends up torturing and slaughtering them. It would be a darkfic and a bloody tragedy.
⛺- Who’s your favorite romance to write, and what makes their dynamic work for you?
Uhhhhh Halsin/Tav, exclusively XD There's a lot of things that I love about Halsin, far too many to get into for this ask. For the dynamic... I like the idea of Halsin connecting with someone that has a similar level of experience and wisdom to him, or even a little more. I love the idea of him finding an emotional peer, someone that he feels like he can not only help but also be helped by. I also love the fact that he's poly, there's so much emotional growth that happens on a healthy poly journey and his self-confidence when it comes to sharing a lover is soooooo so sexy to me. I haven't written too much poly into my fics because I avoid plot but my writing would be about Ashwyn (it's so weird to write her name, I always call her Tav!) being able to meet him in that place with her own confidence and not needing him to show her the poly ropes or do a lot of negotiating. I like him with partners that can also handle their own shit. See how long this was and I was trying to keep it short!!
As an honorable mention, Karlach and Wyll are my OTPPPPPP I haven't written anything about them but I love them together so so so so soooo so sooo much.
🍾- What inspired you to start writing BG3 fanfiction in the first place?
Halsin! I didn't feel inspired so much as I felt like I needed an outlet. Like when your brain has a hemorrhage and you need to drill a hole in your skull so you don't die... I need an outlet so my brain doesn't collapse under the pressure of all my thoughts about him. That's what got me started and what keeps me going is all the delightful connections I've made with fellow Halsinmancers.
😶🌫️- Do you self-insert in your fics, or is your protagonist completely separate from you?
Ummm I'm not totally sure how to answer this one. Ashwyn isn't me, she has her own life and stuff, but also she kind of is just a self-insert. She's like the most overpowered Mary Sue character... She's old af, a chronomancer who can selectively rewind time, massively skilled at anything she touches... Lol kind of like Doctor Who character in a way? Idk. Like obviously I'm not any of those things in real life but at the same time I feel like the Mary Sue thing is always a certain degree of self-insert.
🎉- What’s one story you still want to tell in the BG3 universe but haven’t started yet?
Oh man I can't talk about this it's a secret! Lol not really but I have no idea when I'm ever going to get to it. I really want to a write a "5 times this, and 1 time that" fic, where it's like... 5 times Tav sang to Halsin, and 1 time she didn't. And I want it to be a songfic, with dedicated playlists that are songs that Tav sings in the story as it follows the romance between her and Halsin. Back in the destiel hayday I saw people do songfics like that where, when you listened to the playlist as you read, it matched up pretty well to the pace of the story, and I want to see if I can pull something like that off. I also loooooooooove love love hozier + halsin, so I'm attempting to challenge myself by not including any hozier music (but of course the chapter titles will all still be hozier lyrics). Otherwise the songs for the fic are all folksy, because when I listen to the song I want to be able to easily imagine one person playing an instrument and singing and not have to mentally grapple with including eletronic or orchestral stuff. I have like 45 songs on the playlist ... I just don't know when I'll get to writing the fic.
🏠- What does Baldur’s Gate itself mean in your stories: home, chaos, redemption, or something else?
Hmm... Are we talking about the city, or the game? My stories are about sex first and foremost, let's just get that straight :P but greater plotlines in my head revolve around choosing love and hope even in the face of adversity. Those are the stories I like best.
🪼- Do you explore the tadpole as literal horror, or as a metaphor for control, trauma, or transformation?
I don't explore anything! Haha but if I did... I think it would about control. Fear of not having control of oneself, or being watched in the privacy of one's own mind. Maybe a deeper level of what it means to have control over yourself; were you more in control of yourself pre-tadpole? Are you actually more in control of yourself post-tadpole?
But let's be real here - the tadpole is a background detail in my romance simulator with an old elf. Thanks again for the ask, my friend ;) Get to writing!
