ZEAL OPTICS SUPPORTS EXPEDITION ON NGOZUMPA GLACIER IN NEPAL WITH ASTRONAUT SCIENTIST ULYANA HORODYSKYJ AND ARTIST BENJAMIN POTHIER

ZEAL’s thrilled to announce that we’ll be joining Dr. Ulyana Nadia Horodyskyj, a Scientist-Astronaut candidate and glaciologist on her expedition to Ngozumpa Glacier in Nepal this month to protect the eyes leading the expedition as well as help share data and aid in the rebuild efforts behind a high altitude weather station which was destroyed during the 2015 Earthquake. Photographer, Documentary Film director and Anthropology Researcher Benjamin Pothier is joining Dr. Ulyana Horodyskyj, a Glaciologist and Climate change educator trained as a Scientist-Astronaut in the PoSSUM program, for an expedition to Ngozumpa Glacier in Nepal in May to June 2016. The Team will conduct scientific research regarding the glacier melting that could become a threat to population nearby, repair a weather station which was destroyed during the 2015 earthquake and plan to make a donation of a solar power system to a Sherpa community in need.
Benjamin is a PhD Candidate at the CAIIA Center for Advanced Inquiry in the Integrative Arts, Planetary Collegium programme, Plymouth University UK, with three previous expeditions in the Arctic Circle. His work and research have been presented worldwide from Johannesburg to Tromsø's northernmost University. He plans to direct a documentary about the expedition, but also to test innovative gears and devices.
