It’s been 6 years since Tom Wilson laid a dangerous hit on Lubomir Visnovsky in the Isles vs. Caps Round 1 series in April 2015, which led to Viz’s 12th concussion and ended his career. That incident was the start of Wilson’s reign of terror. In the past 6 years (age 18 to 24), I’ve learned a lot about myself through college and grad school and became more considerate; I’m not the same person I used to be. During that same time period (age 21 to 27), Wilson has continually put other players’ lives in danger without a second thought. Last night’s incident proves that he has learned NOTHING about himself, the importance of respecting others, and the serious health effects his hits can & have caused; he is the same person he was back then.
I am sick and tired of people making excuses for Wilson—he has never made an actual effort to change his reckless style of play. The NHL and the Washington Capitals could’ve intervened in 2015 and taught him how to play the game the right way (he has talent, ngl). Instead, they enabled his dangerous behavior (still do) and created a monster. Tom Wilson must be banned, not just from the NHL, but from all professional hockey leagues.
