Only on Bido, in Nohwa, does Sangcheol have the luxury of being able to fall asleep not on his safe, and secured bed. And having grown up for the most part on the island, he knew many of it’s hidden escapes. One such happens to be a somewhat grassy cliff that overlooks the ravaging sea. Far enough so he doesn’t wake up with a face full of salt after an afternoon nap, but close enough for the ocean to whisper lullabies in his ear. If you know the somewhat haphazard route off the cliff, you can find him snoozing or taking a mid-afternoon nap. He’s even hidden blankets in some tree-trunks.

Sangcheol becomes much more alert after sleepless nights. Perhaps it’s because of all the sleepless nights he had as a scout for the gang. One couldn’t sleep when a delayed response meant the difference between living or dead. And so, despite running on little to no sleep, his body adapted to it’s circumstances: sight becoming more clearer, hearing more acute, his entire body more alert. And so now, instead of being a grumpy old man, Sangcheol simply becomes more aware of his surroundings. Which on Bido, isn’t such a bad thing. Though the same is night the case if you get some alcohol into his system. Hungover and sleepless, he just might want to fight you.
