——— it was all new to the both of them. the entire relationship was more of a challenge to deal with. of course the possessive nature that tave had was something theodore could get used too. it wasn’t always that someone was jealous over him. a smirk appeared on his face at tave’s reaction to the server’s kindness, hand reaching to tuck some loose curls behind his ear as he spoke. “babe, jealousy is sexy on you. you should wear that more often. clothes are becoming a downer.” he teased. the wait that he had been giving tave was out of the ordinary because he had normally already had his cake and ate it too; however, he was trying to be more patient with tave, since this was out of his element. he rose a curious brow as he took a sip of his beer. “so, i’ve been pondering about the idea for weeks. why don’t you come home with me tonight?” he sat the beer down on the table, hands clasping together as he tugged at his bottom lip.

       AS SUMMER ROLLS into fall, jude spends the last sliver of vacation trying to cling to his warm, happy bubble. maybe it’s been something he’s tried to resist for too long –– and when he’s with him, jude can’t help thinking about all the years he missed out on while trying to conform to everyone else’s desires. but when he’s not... well, the anxiety of being on the same campus tomorrow is already brewing hot in his stomach. he’d told himself he would be strong, let their relationship roll along with the seasons, but between his teammates and the rest of the school that knows him as one of their star football players, he’s not quite sure he’s brave enough.

if only people knew just how cowardly he felt, they’d never think of him the same again.

as much as he wants things to smoothly transition into the school year, the uncontrollable anxiety strikes as soon as he steps foot on campus. he puts his car in park, his head in his hands and tries to steady his breathing while he thinks to himself: what did i get myself into? this is why he never let himself indulge. explore. be free. it causes too many problems when he’s back out where the world can see him. when they can’t pull the blanket over them and let jude’s warm bed shield them from the outside world. 

the memory makes his heartache, but does nothing for his anxiety. 

he’s ten minutes late to his first class.

he’s only halfway through his day’s schedule when he finally sees miles headed in his direction and his stomach melts to knots. he’s already avoided two text messages, something he hoped he could chalk up to being busy with his first day, but he’s never had a talent for lying, especially not to the boy that makes his heart pull in his chest. the only other option he can think of is to completely evade the situation, and so when he sees miles, even though he’d promised himself he wouldn’t react like this, he can’t help but duck down into the nearest building, hoping he hadn’t been seen first.

It’s been actual fucking days. The fatigue, the irritability, and the frantic feeling of being abandoned have all come together into a nauseating storm inside of him. He feels like his insides are caught alight, he feels restless and destroyed and like he can’t fucking move, but like he has to at the same time. It’s the drugs warring with the demons warring with his shitty self, his desire for attention, for validation. It’s compulsion and crushing weight at the same time, and Remik drags his feet the entire way to the club. Phoenix is working tonight, or at least he thinks he’s working tonight --- or at least he hopes he’s working tonight --- and he has something he needs to say to him. He has something he needs to demand of him, really, whatever it takes. Whatever it fucking takes, even if he has to drag him off that stage and get him to look him in the damn eye. This isn’t how it’s supposed to be. He was supposed to care, saying all of those lovely things to him, and then taking them away just like that. It’s not fucking fair. It’s not fucking fair that he insisted on coming over even after Mik told him why he shouldn’t, and now?

Well, now he doesn’t want him. Now he’s done with him. And Remik just can’t accept that.

So here he is, barging in like he owns the place (just as he was raised to, come to think of it), with greasy hair and frumpy clothing, a mere ghost of the person he was the first time they had met. The first time he had come through these doors and been fucking captivated, like he’d never seen anyone quite like him before. He hates it and he loves it and he loved his attention, he loved how he made him feel. It’s been days. It’s been days. This is warranted. Everything he’s doing is within reason when he marches over to where he’d pretty much immediately spotted Phoenix, dancing for some old guy that Mik can picture hurtling off of a tall, tall building if he squints. He’s fucked up, that much is clear in more ways than one, not the least of which is the brash way that he reaches up and pulls on his arm without warning. Remik is climbed half-way onto the platform and half-way off, green eyes alight with the urgency of everything roiling about inside of him, and his skin coated with a thin sheen of sweat. “You have been ignoring me. Why?” The music is so loud, he practically has to shout it to be heard, but he really doesn’t give a fuck. “You were the one who was wanting to coming over, and now you are just going to fucking --- you are just doing this now?” Wildly gesturing with his free hand, he tries not to grip too tight. Tries.
