Caleb is one of those rare and refreshing fictional men who genuinely doesn’t treat women differently??? Like yeah of course we’re all living in a patriarchal culture that makes us unintentionally biased so Liam The Actor slips up on occasion, but Caleb is a very good representation of a guy who grew up in not a particularly sexist culture??? Like Matt Mercer successfully created a fictional world where gender doesn’t seem to be a big deal when in comes to power, and while afaik it’s not explicitly written out anywhere, women really are equal to men. That’s just how things are. (take notes, bioware). We’re shown powerful and authoritative women without a cute lil Girl Power!(tm) tag, and even nonbinary people who use gender-neutral pronouns in their professional and respected job?? That’s just how thing sare?? Even though they’re working for the Empire, whomst I despise, and also like, ACAB (all crownsguards are bastards) Bryce means a whole lot to me as a nonbinary person who’s closeted in my professional life.
ANYWAY Caleb Widogast drinks his respect women juice because he knows nothing else, and also he’s surrounded by strong women, female characters who are all fully realized individuals who are all extremely worthy of respect (great respect)
