I'm trapped in a back and forth pattern of being treated like a teenager by my father and acting like a teenager AROUND my father. I'm 31 living with my parents again and I hate hate hate this cycle more than anything and yes I'm signed up for therapy and I know things take time and etc etc but was wondering if you have ONE trick, small idea, something I can do on my end to ... end the cycle? Any thought whatsoever. It's complicated and I hate it. Bad. I want to evolve.

eddie haskell. you have to just agree, agree, agree, pretend you see their point, and just do what you want anyway and not tell them about it. it's a lot easier to be honest and 'adult' when you aren't in close proximity with your parents. i haven't lived with my mom in 15 years, but if i'm around her for more than a day i revert to being a bratty teenager, so i can relate.

so, just go full teenager. lie about what you're doing and just be like, 'yes dad' and then do what you want, and then when you get out you can be normal again.

probably a really nice black and white striped boat neck shirt that had 3/4 sleeves with a cuff that didn't stretch out and was long enough to cover the waist band of my jeans.

also frye engineer boots that fit my giant calves !

I was just going to ask you about best resources for Middle Eastern political history ! Instead I'll recommend you the book 'The Robber Bride' by Margaret Atwood; there's a character named Toni who's into wars / battles / technology. It's a good novel! [You've probably already read it?]

yes, that is in my top five favorite margaret atwood books, even ! a controversial top five which includes 'alias grace' ! i actually read it in 9th grade and distinctly remember being like, 'wow, a woman who studies war, COOL' (though at the time chemistry was my thing and my original idea was that i'd major in chemistry and be a pharmacist). middle eastern political history i might be able to do- i might just do a big non-fiction post.
