im an ex muslim and my entire life everytime i preyed i was basically performing for my parents meaning the first time ive ever prayed for real becus i actually loved and believed in the diety is Aphrodite whilst im still a biginner myself i will say that if ur like me and was "performing" wen preying to the god u used to worship so ur parents or teachers wouldnt get mad chances are ur gonna be stumbling apon ur words having no idea wut the fuck to say heres my advice just take a deep breath and go slowly its gonna be fine u dont have to be perfect if u want u can even write it down if u dont want to or cant verbally speak its ok

also i would like to say this

alot of the time ull feel the gods presence like for example wen i prey to aphrodite i feel this like beatiful warm and loving energy around me dont get scared if u do or dont feel something tho

I feel uncomfortable when people insist that polytheistic worldview, due to the presence of propitiatory sacrifices, must have been all about avoiding the threat of smiting and nothing else. Or that the fear of the natural elements of the world was/is somehow unnatural to have, especially for ancient communities for whom anywhere outside of the town border was Danger Zone.
