I’ve been dating Nick Granowicz since I was a freshman at Michigan State, I met him after one of my roommates dragged me to an off-campus party and I ran into him. We had talked that whole night and he ended up giving me his number, so we stayed in contact and later started dating.
Nick’s POV
I’ve been planning to propose to Y/n since the biggening of the year. I bought the ring about 2 months ago I just had no idea how to do it. Thankfully Jay and Steve both told me to wait for the Duel in the D game, they told me I should do it after the game since we’re playing against her university. Right now we are in the bus on the way to the arena. I was sitting next to Holtzy.
“She’s going to be at the game right?” he asked me, I looked at him and nodded.
“Yeah, she’s here with our parents” I said smiling.
“awe cute both set of parents are here” Jay teased. Sitting on the other side of us with Eric.
“very funny, I have to do this right” I said making him laugh.
“We know man, were happy for you” Eric said
“You nervous?” Steve asked
“Little bit” I sighed.
“Why are you nervous about the game?” Rutger asked sitting behind us, my eyes went wide I forgot he was sitting there. The freshmens don’t know I have a girlfriend let alone that I’m planning to propose.
“Yeah dude, we got this guy” Luca said sitting next to him.
Mark who’s sitting on the other side of them with ethan started laughing.
“Why are you laughing?” luca asked looking at him curiously.
“How the hell have you guys not figured it out yet?” he asked the 2 freshmen’s chuckling.
“Figured out what?” Rutger asked.
ethan leaned over and looked at the freshmen’s before answering. “That guy here has a girlfriend”
Rutger and Luca looked at me surprised.
“WHAT?”
“SINCE WHEN?” They both asked me.
“Since my sophomore year.”
“Why have we not met her yet?” Adam asked since he was listening to the whole thing.
“Because Y/n goes to Michigan state” jay answered for me.
“You’re dating a Rival?” Luca asked in disbelief. I only nodded.
“Okay but why are you nervous? Are you scared were going to lose against her school?” rutger asked and I looked at Steve for advice.
“He’s planning to propose after the game” Steve told him smiling.
“Wait what, why didn’t you tell us?” Mark asked surprised.
“Because you can’t keep you’re mouth shut.” I told him.
“Good point” ethan said chuckling.
“Hey! But good for you man, she’s definitely going to say yes” Mark replied smiling.
“Thanks”
we finally got to the arena and into the locker room, so I tried to focus on the game.
y/n POV
Today Michigan State is playing against Michigan university for the duel of the D, I’m a senior at Michigan state while my boyfriend Nick was hoping to win the trophy for the fourth time for the University of Michigan, at this point I don’t really care about my school I’ve been cheering for him since we started dating.
My parents and I are on our way to little Caesars arena, I was wearing one of Nick’s jerseys that he gave me when we first started dating, my parents refused to wear anything other than Michigan State merch since they both went to msu, even though they adore Nick so they were wearing my some of my dad’s old msu jerseys and a beanie.
Once we got to the arena we made our way to our seats, I talked to Nick earlier this morning, I was told to meet him by the bench if they won, he got me a pass that I could show the security guards.
I was on the edge of my seat the whole game, then came overtime. This was the most stressful game ever. At 0.06 seconds ethan scored. I jumped out of my seat and screamed, I was so proud of Nick for winning this trophy every year for the past five years.
The guys were celebrating, my parents and I along with Nick’s parents made our way down to the bench, I showed the security guard my pass and he let us go. When we got there Mark saw us and skated over happily and giving me a hug.
“WE DID IT” he screamed making me laugh
“come on, I was told to help you get to Nick” Mark said and I shock my head.
“No Mark it’s fine I can wait here” I said.
“What no, come on” he said dragging me
“Babe” Nick said before kissing me and pulling me in a hug
“I’m so incredibly proud of you grano” I whispered in his ear.
“I love you y/n, there something I need to do” he said, I looked at him confused he let go of me and went over to his coach.
I have no idea what was going on but his coach handed him something before smiling and patting him on the back.
Nick skated over to me. I was about to ask him what that was about when he dropped on one knee. My hand flew to my mouth and tears coming to my eyes.
“Y/n, you’ve been there for me for the past 4 years, I love you more than anything… even hockey, I don’t see a future without you in it, will you marry me?” he asked, I nodded.
“Oh my god, yes a million times yes” I said. Nick put the ring on my finger as the team cheered for us, along with all the fans still in the building.
“I love you so much” I said before I kissed him.
“I love you to, I can’t wait to see what the future brings us” he said smiling
Mark came over to us screaming.
“Can you believe I only found out he was going to propose before the game” Mark told
Sooo umm i was bored because i can't sleep and i made a height comparison chart for some of the hockey players i find attractive and i was dissapointed i really thought some of them would be taller but it's fine not their fault and i'm also just not the shortest (shout out to my dad for the dutch genes since i'm still growing)
