Pairing: Alex/Nick
Prompt: Warming up in front of the fireplace after shoveling snow & similar prompts
---
“I can’t feel my toes,” Nick mutters as he rounds the couch and grabs a blanket that he slings around himself, covering his head as well.
Byron gently boofs at him, clearly unsure what to do with the blanket ghost in front of him.
“Sorry, bud,” Nick says and pulls it off his head.
Alex smirks at him over his shoulder, then he chucks another log onto the fire. “Come here,” he says. “And bring me a blanket.”
“We can share this one.” Nick sits in front of the fireplace, holding out his arm so Alex can join him.
They were out in the driveway for at least an hour, digging up Nick’s car because he doesn't want to be late for morning skate tomorrow. It’s been snowing pretty much all day. Alex’s plow guy has been by twice already and he’ll most likely have to come back in the morning.
Nick glances out the window—at least the snow is falling much gentler now. If he’s lucky, he can brush all that off his car with a broom.
“We should have brought in some firewood while were out there,” Alex says as he sits down with Nick, scooting in close so Nick can wrap the blanket around him too.
“I can do it,” Nick says and kisses the top of Alex’s head. His hair is wet where it was sticking out from under his hat.
“Or we could just let the fire go out and go to bed.”
“It’s nine.”
“I’m tired,” Alex says softly. “That was a lot of snow.”
“I told you to go back inside,” Nick says. He was going to take care of it by himself—it’s his car. Alex has been complaining about his knee, so Nick wasn’t even going to ask for his help.
“It was faster this way,” Alex says. “Anyway…” He tilts his head to kiss Nick’s cheek. “This is cozy.”
“And it wouldn’t have been cozy if you hadn’t helped?”
“No,” Alex says.
And who is Nick to argue with that?
