Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Warped

Every band has an idea of what they think is cool and what is not. The Chilli Peppers' idea of cool has always been on the lines of sexual ambiguity, nudity, and well, what most people will think of as just plain crazy behaviour. All of that can work on your favor when a director is capable of controlling those elements to deliver an edge and not an over-the-top feel- like for example in the case of  RCHP's Give It Away video (directed by: Stephan Sednaoui). Place those elements on the wrong hands and you get Warped. Directed by Nick Wickham - Warped kills the cool weirdo in the Peppers whilst turning them into a grotesque sexually deviant bunch. Wickham's obsession with ultra-wide-long-lasting-not-well-composed-shots makes the performance and theatrical too unpolished and unflattering like that of an amateur VHS indie music video.  Unlike Give It Away, the homoerotic-weirdo world of Warped generated a backlash from fans and plenty of name calling for a reason.
