Deep Purple, 1968 yılında İngiltere'nin Hertford kentinde kurulmuş olan İngiliz rock grubu. Grup, modern hard rock ve heavy metalin öncülerinden biri olarak kabul edilse de zaman içinde grubun müzikal tarzı değişikliğe uğramıştır[1]. Aslen bir progresif rock grubu olarak kurulan Deep Purple, 1970'ten itibaren daha ağır bir sound'a geçiş yapmıştır. Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin ve Black Sabbath ile birlikte, 1970'lerin başlarında ve ortalarında İngiliz hard rock ve heavy metaline yön veren üç büyük gruptan biridir. Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in Hertford in 1968.The band is considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock,although their musical approach changed over the years. Originally formed as a progressive rock band, the band shifted to a heavier sound in 1970. Deep Purple, together with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, have been referred to as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the early to mid-seventies".
