WILL & AUSTIN & KAYLA HEADCANNONS
-> they are tight 🤞 their friendship reminds will
of his old friends and siblings from the pjo era that have either moved on from camp or died. and he cares about austin and kayla so much because he couldn’t bare losing anymore family
-> they get together and form a band. they play really simple songs atm because will is Shit at playing instruments but hes really interested in the electric guitar, so Austin is helping him learn. Kayla Is A Boss On The Drums. She just picked it up pretty quickly and loves it because its a good way for her to release her anger. Shes mastered the stick tricks and everything, and you can often hear her banging on the set if shes not at camp activities
-> they mostly play simple songs, and the genre doesnt really matter (except Austin is begging them both to learn some jazz pieces because its his specialty considering, yk, saxophone. but Kayla hates jazz she likes songs that she can smash the bass drum and symbols to and scream to, whereas Will, who likes listening to jazz, bless him, cannot seem to figure out how to integrate his guitar sounds into this specific genre). they’re just learning how to work as a team and make their instruments sound good together really. Austin takes it seriously (which humors will and kayla) because he dreams about going onto the big stage and whipping out some bangers one day soon
-> Austin is currently working on also improving his piano. Nico loooves this since it reminds him of the music he would listen to in the 30s and because he used to learn piano in italy. this makes will happy so he’s desperately trying to watch Austin and learn but hes so bad and all he can play is twinkle twinkle little star
-> kayla knows how to braid Austins hair, so shes trying to teach Will how to aswell. he picks it up pretty well and likes to practice on Austin, meaning austin will sometimes be walking around camp with some funky, half falling out, uneven braids. but he loves them and refuses to take them out until will forces him to because he wants to try again
-> Kayla and will are the star wars nerds. They’ve got all the DVDs so they can have movie marathons in their cabin whenever they need. they’re begging Austin and nico to join them, but Austin is really not interested, whereas nico tries to watch, but falls asleep most of the time
-> will actually begun hanging out with Austin and Kayla a lot more after HoH, when things were starting to get a bit hectic at CHB, and he was giving his cabin some support. the three of them just clicked pretty well and relied on each other for help and support within Apollo Cabin, and became super close during BoO
-> because of this, nico also begun spending time with them, more so after the events of the Hidden Oracle. Before that, will wanted to make sure nico was comfortable with everything- being together in public, showing affection, even just hanging around other campers since nico was pretty apprehensive- so they spent more time 1 on 1. when they began all hanging out together, nico didn’t really talk to Austin or Kayla a lot. he eventually started opening up after Austin mentioned he was learning a piano piece that nico used to love when he was little, so nico stuck around one day to hear Austin play. this first time nico was listening to that specific piece, he sat next to will with his eyes closed the whole time. halfway through, Will thinks nico is asleep, so he looks over at nico leaning on his shoulder. his face is relaxed, like hes at peace, and theres tears gathering in the corners of nico’s eyes. will says nothing, but in that moment he was so so happy to see nico becoming more comfortable with letting down his walls around others, specifically Will’s siblings
-> so nico and austin start bonding over piano and OMG austin is teaching nico some piano again and nico’s inner child is screaming with happiness and nostalgia
-> one of Will, Austin and Kayla’s bonding moments was when Will came out to them during the early moments of BoO (and then eventually the rest of the camp). they were so supportive of him, and he felt forever grateful to have found two great friends after being alone for so many months
-> Will is always teaching his younger siblings the basics of first aid and healing. Austin and Kayla aren’t as talented as will, but they love learning about these things. they have so many opportunities to practice either on each other after some training in the arena, or on other campers. will loves teaching- its actually the pathway he wants to take when hes older. it makes him so happy to see Austin and Kayla pick up what he’s taught them and put it into practice so well (proud older brother Will!!!)
-> adding onto that concept, will has so many opportunities to demonstrate different healing techniques with nico, because nico has a tendency to get beaten up a lil in practice or training (because of his disregard for personal safety or care). so nico is like his guinea pig if you will. And will loves it because its an excuse to spend more time with the people he loves! (and to embarrass nico a lil)
