Nicolas heard the bang and saw the flash and immediately dropped to the ground. People were yelling and he put his hands over his ears. He felt his breath start to quicken and he could feel the cold move up his feet and through his body. "No no no no" he whimpered, the people were running around the room and he was taken back to when his father left. The screaming match between him and his mother.

"You cant just leave him!"

"I cant have a son like that! He doenst function correctly, he isn't normal!"

Nicolas felt hot tears run down his face in contrast to the feeling of ice moving up his arms and touching his ears. He hated the feeling and slammed his hands to the ground sending ice shooting left and right and he rocked back and forth.

Despite all that had been going on in Auradon with the riots, Nic did remember that Cas' birthday was approaching soon. Now seemed like as good as any to give the other something to cheer them up. Nicolas felt a different kind of kinship to Cas, one that he hoped cas felt as well. Nicolas had wondered and struggled to find Cas the perfect gift when he realized that the best gift for cas, was a book and who else to get a book on other than walt Whitman? Nicolas liked when Cas talked about his favorite things. He had the gift wrapped in simple paper tied with string. He didnt feel the need to keep everything showy and exciting. Nicolas knocked on Cas bedroom door and let himself in. "Hey I got you something," he felt like he could be more of himself around Cas. More relaxed. Cas was a good friend.

Nicolas had a happy childhood to an extent, he was born on a warm spring day and Elsa and her husband had been ecstatic when he was born. Elsa was hopeful that her son wouldn’t have the ice powers she was born with and that he could lead a normal life. As a baby Nicolas was very fussy and would cry for hours on end. As he grew up he hated being touched and would kick and scream if someone touched him. When he was four his little sister Eva was born and he fell in love with the small baby his parents held.  However, as the months went on Nicolas couldn’t handle all the sounds and screaming that a new born entailed and he found everything too much always. His mother tried to reach for him one day and he panicked, ice shooting out of his hands as he screamed.

Elsa had always known there was something different about her son and she discovered that ice powers were not what was different. Nicolas’ doctors determined that while he was brilliantly smart, the lack of eye contact, physical affection, and his social communications skills indicated that he had Asperger’s syndrome a form of autism. Elsa’s husband couldn’t handle not having a perfect son and abandoned his family. Nicolas was five and Elsa had three children to raise virtually alone. Elsa had solace within the royal community and Nicolas saw many behavioral therapists.  Elsa struggled for a while to find a behavioral therapist who wouldn’t force Nicolas to suppress his stims or force him into sensory overload regarding affection.

Nicolas has always known on a deep level that it was his fault his father left and he feels as though his siblings may blame him for it. Nicolas is the eldest of three kids and next in line for the throne of Arendelle. He has never really thought about ruling but has always had a strong support system within his family and fellow royal friends. The Beast family being one of the biggest support systems outside of his own family.  

► PERSONALITY

Nicolas is sweet and generous, he loves to play piano and found it was one of the more relaxing things in his life. He is clumsy and doesn’t always catch onto things too quickly. Nicolas is very observant in social situations and tends to subconsciously mirror and mimic to appear slightly neurotypical. He knows he should be proud to be autistic but he also know the stigma around it and its something he struggles with. He sometimes can say the wrong thing or be too harsh when he speaks, hes also incredibly stubborn and once he has an idea he fixates and nothing can change his mind.

Nicolas is extremely protective of his siblings and loves them dearly, he feels a distance to Eva sometimes and to his other sibling because he is so different but he knows they love him. He loves his family and is very family oriented. Nicolas is a homoromantic asexual meaning he romantically likes men but does not feel sexual attraction to them. He really doesn’t care about finding a life partner. His mother had been single for most of his life and If she could rule that way so could he. He isn’t nervous about becoming king, but he cannot dance for shit. Hes tall and gangly and goofy.
