Nicole Evans’s “Smoke Signals.”
Currently on view at Beinart Gallery in Melbourne, Australia is artist Nicole Evans’s solo exhibition, “Smoke Signals.”
Evans’s underlying focus is on the issues of climate change and environmental degradation. The animals featured in her paintings are literal and metaphorical representations of the environmental issues that affect not only animals but humans as well. The wildlife depicted also have a slightly anthropomorphic feel. This is a deliberate choice by the artist; the animals are symbols of Evans’ own emotions and struggles.
