Week 8 Pitch: Feedback
- the opportunity is well presented effectively and succinctly at the beginning, setting the scene well for the rest of the presentation
- “pet owner” love the theme
- market spread really well communicates the opportunity and clearly, need to put Charlie & Rogue in it though (perhaps have a slide first with and then next one without)
- ‘you brushed over 8 Paws a bit’... they’re you’re main competitor so you really need to flush out what your point of difference is from you to them, it wasn’t so clear
- positive reaction to general idea
- Question: how can you create something so unique and justify a high price point
- showing $$$ budgeting and number is great. Huge validation in that and proves the work you’ve been putting in, justifies and makes the whole thing believable
- environmental concerns... supply w NZ Rimu?
- positive to customisation of bedding
- love name, clear brand and opportunity
- state retail price, state wholesale, figure out exacts
- prove pre-orders to investors.. how many people have you already got lined up and interested? Can you confirm there is already a demand?
- “jump in” , get going and get these products up and running (Anna)
- quit with the ums and ahhs
- again, opportunity and beginning is clear cut and just all-round MEAN
- use quotes for validation, numbers etc .. prove exactly that real people will buy this
- make numbers and stats big and obvious (budgeting page)
- not everyone has to speak, was a bit jumpy
- loves the connection with the brand and real pets Charlie and Rogue, maybe show more of our personal connection with these animals at home.. make more personal
- show image prototype on the brief page.. also accompany with
Having a bit of a play round on the other side with some logo ideas. i like where it’s headed but feel it needs a little abstraction so thing aren’t so straight forward, but still enough to hold the story and personalities behind ‘Charlie & Rogue’
Week Five Class Notes
Holly:
Tell people what you’re doing, who you are, what you’re going to use the information for.
Disclaimer, emails - everything.
Prove is there really a gap in the market.
Bed that would look good but wouldn’t fall apart.
Easily replaced covers, stuff that can be replaced - washed etc.
“This is the kind of thing we want to provide in terms of products”....
Validate. Validate again.
“My dog bed is great, it’s tough as shit - but hell it’s ugly.”
“It’s ugly and takes up so much space - especially when you have two big dogs.”
Look at day care - we’re looking for specific market, find these at higher class day care.. Go and visit these places, talk to people - these are your potential clients.
Jason:
Hand crafted? Questionable? Aesthetic value.
“Dog sleeps in basket in the corner of the room- i’d rather it wasn’t that. But it’s either that or an ugly ass thing from the Warehouse.”
Why has this not been done before? It’s overseas, but why is this not in New Zealand?
- Culture
- We’re in a new age now.. 10 years ago? Maybe not. Now? Yes.
American media, social influences. Becoming apart of our culture.
Instagram, social media.. Design magazine. Where are these people going to look for the kind of products we are offering
Empty nesters - where will they look, advertising
How can you position yourself differently?? Don’t just chuck it in the pet store, that’s warehouse and animates kind of shit.
- Citta design
- Furniture design stores
Homeware design.. Furniture stores. Creating homeware instead of pet ‘products’
Brand: First mover advantage
Will need to look into if pairing products with care kits.
