Samca is a demon from Romanian folklore, known varyingly as Vestitia, Nicosda, Grompa, Huva and Necauza. It appears as a naked woman with a horrifying appearance; beady eyes, disheveled hair, needle-like nails and a tongue of fire.
The demon appears at the end of each month, usually when the moon is full. She visits children, generally under the age of four, and causes them to become mortally ill. She will also molest pregnant women, crippling them or killing them outright. Samca can change her shape into several animals, including a large pig, a crow with bleeding eyes, and a giant black spider.
