The Shimura Clan is a clan of finances, taxes, and money-vaults. They are burocratic, stoic, unfeeling. The clanhead, Shimura Karen, is true to her name, and minimalist too.

Tobirama discovered that her son was a sensor. The boy was wholly untrained, absolutely unequipped to deal with the intensities of the world, thus mini Danzo appeared rarely on the battlefield. He was told to do other back-up work.

After the creation of the village and academy, Tobirama scouted all mighty clans for all the best ninjas and craft (in Hashirama's words)

. "The Ultimate Perfect Team".

The plan was easy. Hashirama could be Hokage with a mediocre team, Tobirama would make an All-Star Unit with candidates who could become Hokage or would support a future (Uchiha) Hokage.

The untrained Danzo wasn't in it.

However, Tobirama couldn't ignore him.

Child!Danzo had sensor powers that made him overstimulated 24/7, so in order for Tobirama to get some (any) rest at all, he needed to at least teach this kid some basic skills to become Zen. He acknowledged that Danzo did need sensor training. The Shimura weren't going to give it, and denied anyone of lower status who offered because "my little boy danzo is perfectly fine, thank you very much."

So Tobirama pulled rank, and offered. He would only teach him one skill, no more.

Danzo latched on to Tobirama like Naruto latched onto Iruka. Finally someone understood his struggles and could teach him something! Danzo potential opened. Danzo began to learn like no child in his generation had ever learned before (save, perhaps, Kagami).

First, Danzo worked to catch up with his peers on basic skills, then, he began mimicking Tobirama in attitude, interests, facial expression. Eventually, he was aiming to make Tobirama's life easier by lightening the burden of his duties (helping the team arrive on time, packing lunches for individual memebers, reminding a slacker of what needed to be studied). He wasn't on the team, but he was 100% invested all the time. He was a child who said "I have to do my duty, mom".

Tobirama made a calculated decision, and removed the biggest slacker on his team, so Danzo could try out that spot. He put the slacker in a different team. During the trial period, Danzo made himself indespensible. Danzo never left team Tobirama.

The slacker's name was Hiruzen.

It had been a few days ever since he had gotten lost. Lost in... whatever here was. All he had managed to gather was that there was fighting. Lots of it. However, he hadn’t managed to get close enough to figure out what was going on. However... the bodies he had found on the ground in various numbers afterwards proved how violent the spat was. He was so hungry and so sleep deprived that he hadn’t even thought of the risks of entering when he found the building. All he could think was that it meant people. That it meant help. Rash it was, yes. But the teenager was deseprate. Entering the quiet faculty, the young Uchiha was meet with various items layed out on shelves and tools layed out on a small table. The young raven took a wary step into the room, looking at the various jars, plants, and substances curiously. An experiment lab, perhaps? It looked rather old looking...

Underground — #8 Criminal Social Club || @nidaiime

It was half-past midnight. Despite the hour, time meant nothing to a city like this. The streets ever-busy with the constant flood of pedestrians beating the concrete down flat against the Earth. From the top view of this "hotel" bar, all the citizens were hidden under a thick band of umbrellas shuffling around each other on either side of the road. The ever-stray person stumbling out into the road, nearly getting clipped by a hurried driver.

Mito balanced a Malboro between her painted lips, staining the white filter a dark, near burgundy rouge. Her hands were busy with a couple of ledgers. flipping through the pastel green paper with ink smudges and stray marks denoting the day.

She sat on the far-corner of the bar. A short glass of liquor sweating out its condensation onto the varnished top near her wrist, abandoned by its owner. Aside from her, the bar was crowded with its usual clientele: men and women in expensive suits and dress; the rare mistress hooked at the elbow of her lover, dressing him up expensive with her presence alone; the boisterous men slapping each other with fondness on the shoulder in bad taste. The variety didn't dismiss that all of them had one thing is common: the same red stain of ichor on their hands.

Keeping to herself, Mito was not usually bothered. She minded her own and people respected that. That, on top of being a bit of an oddity. Unlike many of the mobsters and gang affiliates, the Uzumaki woman was a corporate heir, taking a stand-in for her father's dealings as he aged into seniority. Keeping a conglomerate that affluent on top of the books took the handiwork of those who often kept loose morals and their hands dirty with double-dealings. Her included.

Tonight, she wore a jade satin dress shirt. The top two buttons were undone, allowing the tasteful view of her pale chest where in the center sat an expensive jade with gold bearings. Her long legs accentuated by black slacks with satin pinstripes to allow for a subtle, yet tasteful decoration to match her shirt. The rest of the outfit finished itself with leather 3-inch heels, one of the heels hooked into the bar off the tall stool she was sitting on.

Lacquer red nails tucked a loose strand of unusually crimson hair over her ear, freeing her sight of the chair adjacent to her. She was busy trying to finish these calculations up before she was due to meet a new client: Senju Tobirama.

She didn't answer him right away, simply continued to watch the sparring pair ahead of them.

She did not often get to observe her uncle's students in action or anyone much for that matter, but that only made their progress all the more evident when she did see them. And Hiruzen was good. Very good. He lived up to the greatness of his father, and he put the lessons of his teachers to good use.

Hashirama was better, though. Hiruzen had already made himself familiar with the ground several times in a very short amount of time. And her father seemed to be quite amused by it all. Focused, but amused.

That was what made her brow furrow, enough apparently to be noted by her uncle.

"I don't know...I guess I'm just happy that Danma is away."

It was no secret that a seed of resentment, childish jealously, according to some, had sprouted and grown in her brother ever since Hiruzen Sarutobi was old and strong enough to catch Hashiramas attention. Perhaps Sasuke Sarutobi had a slight hand in it, but Hashirama's interest in the boys' evident potential and progress still seemed genuine.

And she wasn't sure he realized just how deeply that wounded his own son.

"Hiruzen is getting very strong," she continued, tone level, but the furrow in her brow remaining.

"As his teacher, you must be proud of him."

She was twelve, and strong and fast. As strong and fast as she would have been if she'd been trained in the academy, probably more so. Definitely more so. She liked to tell herself that at least. She had to keep telling herself that.

She was growing taller too but was still small and narrow by frame, still a good size for hiding in smaller spaces. She was pretty good at that too.

Maeko had been sitting there, peering at her uncle from her hiding-spot, perfectly quiet and still, for the past ten minutes, watching him.

She had been surpised to spot him, when he'd so often be hiding away in his personal work, looking over her father's shoulders or overseeing his students during the day. But it had been a very much welcome distraction from her general boredom and solitude that day.

Prior to settling in her current hiding-spot, she'd been on the roof, and as quickly as she had dared without causing the tiles to make a sound, or disturb any of its bark or branches, transferred herself into the tree that was a mere stride from the ledge. Curling up there in the foliage, and stayed quiet, watching him for any sign that he'd heard her.

She had no doubt he knew she was there, but he had not called her out. Perhaps that meant she had not given herself away in any other way than simply existing in his vicinity.

She couldn't do much about that part.
