Lorenzo I., The Grand Duke of Riviera (1836-1868)

A little throwback to the first Grand Duke of Riviera at his coronation.

Thanks for @simming-in-the-rain and River @crownsofesha for planning the old Riviera history! Lorenzo was born in 1800 as the heir to the Duchy of Riviera to his father the Duke Umberto. and his Mother Maria Cristina. The Prince of Riviera married Grand Princess Olga Vladimirovna Yurievskaya in 1826 of the famous ruling dynasty of Chelyabinsk who then got baptised as a Catholic and took on the name Constanza. The unusally happy and loving marriage brought the royal couple 6 children.

After his ascension to the throne after his father's death in 1830, Lorenzo managed to bring peace and order to the northern italian lands and integrated Liguria to the realm in just his sixth year as the Duke. The north italian unification thus lead to the proclamation of the Grand Duchy of Riviera in 1836.

His reign is remembered in Riviera as the glorious founding years that brought immense wealth to the country and established Riviera as a major regional power and the unofficial leading force of the italian lands. He died peacefully in his sleep in 1868, and HRH The Hereditary Prince Umberto ascended the throne of Riviera as Umberto II.

La Vista Chiara. Prince Vittorio, heir to Riviera, was sighted attending the celebration of the 18th birthday of his close childhood friend and schoolmate Stefania Luoni, daughter of entrepreneur and philantropist Paolo Eskandar Luoni. Paolo Luoni is the founder and CEO of the biggest conglomerate in Riviera.

There have been rumours since years that she is linked to His Royal Highness and on her birthday party she was seen dancing closely with HRH Vittorio, and even embracing him on the dancefloor. The celebrations in which champagne and beer was served seem rather excessive during the current economic hardship Riviera is facing. The speakers of neither family have not yet answered queries regarding this event.

His Royal Highness, by the grace of God, The Grand Duke Giovanni VII. of Riviera published a new official portrait showing the Grand Duke in the grand ducal uniform and other regalia, sitting on the throne. This portrait was commissioned in preparation for the upcoming 20th throne jubilee and His Royal Highness's 60th birthday next year.

Well, it's been a long time since I posted something, but yes, welcome to my new Royal Family story. The Grand Duchy of Riviera has been a fictitious country of mine since many years, that started as a political alternative history scenario, and led to creating some buildings and sims around 2 years ago. I am going to post a mixture of tabloid/magazine covers as a basis for the story and maybe some other portraits describing the world building. I will probably dab into creating some stories with text, too. But time will tell. The general vibe will be some everyday slice of life and especially some political drama (as this whole country was more or less just a way to write about a fictional party system) I also plan to add a character page as well

There it is, my first story post! Let me introduce you to the political and social drama of Riviera and the girlboss herself, the Prime Minister (Officially the President of the Royal Commission) of Riviera, Gabriela Fantozzi. She has been the President since 2020 where she deposed the other guy who won two terms as PM. She is the leader of the Verdi Democratici, the greens of Riviera, and is heading a centre-left coalition.
